Software Engineer

Role summary

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our WCA engineering team. This role is ideal for a seasoned engineer with strong technical depth, a passion for building scalable systems, and a desire to shape modern, cloud-native architectures.

You will contribute to system design, build robust APIs and services, and collaborate across teams to deliver high-quality solutions. Beyond coding, this role requires a strong understanding of business context, ownership of outcomes, and a continuous drive to innovate and improve.

Key responsibilities

Architecture & system design

• Contribute to system design and architecture with a focus on scalability, performance and fault tolerance.
• Apply domain-driven design (DDD) principles to model complex domains and align technical solutions with business needs.
• Design next-generation APIs that are secure, extensible and optimized for integration across platforms.

Development & engineering excellence

• Write efficient, maintainable code using C#/.NET Core (3.1/5+) and ASP.NET Web APIs.
• Build scalable and secure services using RESTful APIs and gRPC.
• Champion API-first development with strong contract design, performance optimization and developer experience.
• Ensure high reusability and scalability within a microservices ecosystem.
• Strong knowledge in MS-SQL.

Microservices & event-driven systems

• Design and develop microservices using modern architectural patterns.
• Build event-driven systems leveraging Kafka, Azure Event Hub, and Service Bus.
• Ensure reliability, scalability and seamless communication across distributed systems.

Testing & quality

• Develop and maintain unit and integration tests to ensure system reliability and performance.
• Continuously improve code quality through best practices and engineering discipline.

Collaboration & continuous learning

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams in an Agile environment, effectively communicating with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Stay hands-on with development and continuously upskill in emerging technologies.
• Contribute to a culture of innovation, learning and continuous improvement.

Required qualifications (Hard requirements)

• 8+ years of software engineering experience with at least 4 years working on distributed systems.
• Strong proficiency in C# and .NET Core (3.1/5+), ASP.NET and API development.
• Solid understanding of microservices architecture, containerization and cloud-native design patterns.
• Hands-on experience with relational and NoSQL databases.
• Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs and working with event-driven systems.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts across audiences.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field (or equivalent experience).

Preferred qualifications

• Experience with Azure services such as AKS, Azure SQL and Service Bus.
• Familiarity with front-end technologies such as JavaScript and Node.js.
• Experience working in Agile environments with cross-functional teams.
