We are looking for high caliber and proven Engineering Manager to lead critical platform team for Ship Tech with strategic significance and high impact. Being a platform organization powering WW transportation, the amount of exposure in terms of business, technology and scale is un-parallel. We are building new generation capabilities, working with a diverse set of business across the globe to solve for some of the yet unsolved problems in transportation.
In this role, you will own a team of Engineers to drive & deliver critical business initiates along with investing in building strategic technology blocks to enable / accelerate business growth. You will apply both business and technical acumen in a fast-paced, ambiguous and innovative environment. Our ideal teammate possesses a natural curiosity, sharp analytical skills and is excited to pioneer on behalf of customers. This role requires hands-on people management, project management skills, deep technical expertise, and excellent leadership skills to build a high self motivated productive team. You will be responsible for collecting business and systems requirements from internal and external customers, defining your technical roadmap to deliver result and unblock business for both short & long term.

Key job responsibilities
You independently manage a team of SDEs. You hire the right mix of SDEs to accomplish team goals. You are able to assess SDE performance. You are able to hire, develop and promote SDEs.

About the team
Real Time Tracking & Visibility (RTTV) is Amazon's shipment tracking and visibility platform that enables teams across Amazon and its subsidiaries to track shipments and confirm delivery-whether fulfilled by Amazon transportation systems or not. Our platform aggregates and normalizes package-level scan events and notifications across 300+ carriers globally, providing uniform milestone-based tracking and intelligence for small parcel and inbound shipments.
RTTV is a multi-tenant platform with tenant-level data access controls and governance. We provide UI widgets and unified API endpoints that allow clients to create Tracking Requests and query status updates using only Tracking ID and Carrier ID. Our service supports both synchronous queries and asynchronous push-based status updates via SNS channels.
Our vision is to provide an integrated platform addressing visibility needs for all Amazon businesses and their customers-including retail operations, subsidiaries, and MCI/MCF[1] offerings. We're expanding to support any asset type (package, pallet, trailer), any data source (physical scan, telematics, IoT), any freight type (SPD, TL, LTL), and any transportation mode (Ocean, Rail, Air, Inter-modal) across all use cases (Outbound, Inbound, Middle Mile, C-Returns).
- 7+ years of engineering experience
- 3+ years of engineering team management experience
- 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams
- Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
- Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers
- Experience with AI/ML technologies
