Join our team as we power the commerce engine behind Amazon Appstore - enabling millions of customers to discover, purchase, and enjoy digital content across Fire TV and tablets. As a Software Development Manager on the Appstore Commerce Checkout and Payments team, you'll lead the engineers building business-critical order, checkout, and payment workflows that process in-app purchases and subscriptions at massive scale.

Key job responsibilities

Own tier 1 services that directly impact revenue generation for thousands of third-party developers and Amazon's digital offerings

Lead the team responsible for the product details page experience on Fire OS/Vega OS across TV and tablets

Build and maintain SDK APIs that empower developers to seamlessly integrate in-app purchases and monetize their applications

Drive technical excellence in mission-critical payment workflows that must deliver 99.99% reliability

Partner with product, business intelligence, and developer relations teams to optimize conversion funnels and reduce friction

Mentor and grow a team of talented engineers working on distributed systems at Amazon scale

Shape the technical roadmap for next-generation commerce experiences on emerging Amazon devices

Solve complex challenges at the intersection of payments, security, compliance, and user experience

Basic Qualifications

  • 7+ years of engineering experience
  • 3+ years of engineering team management experience
  • 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
  • Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
  • Experience partnering with product or program management teams
  • Experience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
  • Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers
