We are seeking an experienced Software Development Engineer III (SDE-3) to lead the design and development of scalable, reliable, and high-performance software systems. As a senior individual contributor, you will own critical technical initiatives, drive architectural decisions, mentor engineers, and play a key role in shaping the engineering roadmap.
You will work closely with product, design, engineering, and leadership teams to solve complex technical challenges and build systems that scale to millions of users and transactions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop large-scale distributed systems, services, and applications with a focus on scalability, reliability, and performance.
- Lead the technical design and implementation of complex projects spanning multiple services and teams.
- Own critical systems and drive architectural decisions aligned with long-term business goals.
- Translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
- Drive engineering excellence through code quality, testing, observability, and operational best practices.
- Conduct thorough code reviews and establish high engineering standards across the team.
- Mentor and guide SDE-1 and SDE-2 engineers through technical leadership and career development support.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues, ensuring high system availability and reliability.
- Partner with Product Managers, Designers, and Engineering Leaders to define technical roadmaps and execution plans.
- Lead performance optimization initiatives across application, database, and infrastructure layers.
- Drive adoption of modern technologies, frameworks, and development practices.
- Collaborate with DevOps and Infrastructure teams to improve deployment, monitoring, and incident response processes.
- Contribute to hiring, technical interviews, and engineering culture development.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 5–8 years of professional software development experience.
- Strong expertise in the MERN stack (MongoDB, Express.js, React.js, Node.js).
- Strong proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript and modern software design principles.
- Proven experience designing and building scalable distributed systems.
- Deep understanding of system design, scalability, reliability, security, and performance engineering.
- Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, design patterns, and software architecture.
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
- Strong experience with REST APIs, microservices, and event-driven architectures.
- Experience with database design, query optimization, caching, and data modeling.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Git, and modern software delivery practices.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and container orchestration platforms.
- Experience with messaging systems such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, SQS, or Pub/Sub.
- Experience designing high-throughput systems processing millions of requests or events per day.
- Knowledge of observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Datadog, or New Relic.
- Experience working in high-growth startups or large-scale product companies.
