Role Description

As a Software Development Engineer (SDE) in Delta's Enterprise Payments team, you will design, build, and optimize backend systems that power secure, reliable, and high‑performance payment experiences for millions of Delta customers worldwide. You will work across microservices, distributed systems, cloud-native architectures, and PCI‑compliant payment integrations to deliver mission‑critical solutions that directly impact Delta's global digital commerce ecosystem. You will collaborate with cross‑functional engineering, architecture, security, and product teams to develop scalable APIs, enhance payment workflows, and ensure seamless integration with internal and external payment partners. This role requires strong backend engineering skills, hands-on experience with Java/Spring Boot, and the ability to craft highly available, fault-tolerant systems in AWS. In this position, you will contribute to building the next generation of Delta's enterprise payment platform—one that is robust, high-performing, and aligned with Delta's commitment to exceptional customer experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop scalable backend systems and APIs using Java, Spring Boot, Microservices, RESTful APIs.
  • Build and maintain payment-related components and integrations in AWS.
  • Implement secure, PCI-compliant solutions and ensure adherence to Delta's standards and CI/CD practices.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, Develop and deliver high‑quality technical solutions
  • Support deployments and ensure adherence to Delta's methodology, standards, and CI/CD practices.
  • Troubleshoot and optimize application performance across front-end and back-end layers.
  • Participate in code reviews and knowledge sharing to maintain code quality and team alignment.
  • Ensure technical solutions align with business goals and deliver high customer satisfaction.

Technical Competencies

What You Need To Succeed (Minimum Qualifications)

  • Education: BS/MS in Computer Science or related technical field.
  • Experience: 2–4 years in full-stack development.
  • Strong hands-on experience in Java, Spring Boot, Microservices, and RESTful APIs.
  • Working knowledge of AWS services such as EC2, Lambda, S3, API Gateway.
  • Experience with Oracle/SQL and source control tools (Git).
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and Agile methodologies.
  • Understanding of secure coding principles; exposure to PCI standards is a plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to learn new technologies quickly.
  • Strong communication skills and professionalism.
  • Additionally, candidates must be a self-learner with the ability to pick up new technologies and provide tangible results.
  • Finally, Candidate must be Reliable, produce quality work, take pride and ownership in their work with high level of professionalism, passion and a sense of urgency to make things happen.

  • Frontend experience with React, Angular, JavaScript, HTML, CSS.
  • Exposure to Apigee, JBOSS, or other containers.
  • Understanding of payment gateway processes.
  • Experience with DevOps practices.
  • An eye for detail and passion for delivering quality work.
