Software Developer Intern

We're Hiring: Software Developer Intern | 1-Year Internship

Location - Mumbai, Maharashtra

Kompass India is looking for a motivated Software Developer Intern to join our engineering team and gain hands-on experience in building, maintaining, and improving software applications and internal systems.

This is a 1-year internship designed for students or recent graduates who want to develop practical software engineering skills by working on real-world applications, existing codebases, APIs, databases, automation, and data-processing workflows.

What You'll Work On

You will get hands-on exposure to:

• Develop and maintain web applications using JavaScript, TypeScript, React and Next.js

• Build and maintain backend APIs and services using Node.js and Express

• Write Python scripts for automation, data processing and internal workflows

• Work with MongoDB and fundamental database operations

• Perform database maintenance and data operations in the KDL database

• Perform data validation, updates, cleanup and troubleshooting across KDL and other internal systems

• Integrate applications with third-party APIs and services

• Debug and troubleshoot issues across frontend, backend, APIs and databases

• Understand existing codebases and implement changes without disrupting existing functionality

• Write clean, readable and reusable code

• Use Git and GitHub for version control and collaborative development

• Work with developers and other teams to understand requirements and implement solutions

• Document technical work, fixes and processes when required

Required Skills

We are looking for candidates with:

• Basic to intermediate knowledge of JavaScript

• Working knowledge of TypeScript and Python

• Understanding of MongoDB and database fundamentals

• Familiarity with React and the MERN stack

• Familiarity with Next.js

• Understanding of REST APIs and HTTP fundamentals

• Basic knowledge of Git and GitHub

• Good problem-solving and debugging skills

• Ability to read, understand and work with existing code

Good to Have

• Experience with Node.js and Express

• Knowledge of PostgreSQL or other relational databases

• Experience building projects using React, Next.js or the MERN stack

• Experience working with REST APIs

• Understanding of authentication and authorization

• Experience integrating third-party APIs

• Experience writing Python automation or data-processing scripts

• Basic SQL knowledge

• Familiarity with Docker or containerized applications

• Personal, academic, freelance or open-source software projects

Eligibility

• Students or recent graduates pursuing or having completed a degree/diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering or a related field

• Candidates with strong practical projects are encouraged to apply

• Equivalent practical experience may also be considered
