Your Role And Responsibilities
As a Back-End Developer: Kernel Developer, you will design, develop, test, and deliver features in AIX Operating Systems. You will work collaboratively with various teams, including Firmware and hardware bringup teams, Hypervisor and related value-added software teams, and test teams. Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Develop AIX Kernel Memory Management and Loader/Linker components. Create and use design documentation, such as Functional Requirements Specifications and high-level design documents, to implement identified kernel components.
- Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Work collaboratively with Firmware and hardware bringup teams, Hypervisor and related value-added software teams, to ensure seamless integration of kernel components.
- Test and Debug Code: Ensure that implemented components are unit tested and ready to be integrated into the product, and provide fixes for defects identified by customers.
- Design and Develop Features: Design and develop features in the operating system to ensure end-users can leverage capabilities of the HW platform and microprocessors.
- Perform Problem Determination: Perform problem determination and problem source identification in operating system internals/kernel environments.
Preferred Education
Bachelor's Degree
Required Technical And Professional Expertise
- Exposure to UNIX Operating Systems Kernel Internals : Familiarity with designing, developing, testing, and delivering features in Operating Systems like Linux / AIX.
- Systems Programming Skills: Familiarity with systems programming skills to develop and maintain components in core Kernel components like Virtual Memory Management, Loader/linker.
- Component-Level Design: Experience creating component-level designs and architecture documents and plans for kernel components.
- Unit Testing and Debugging: Exposure to unit testing and debugging code, including providing fixes for defects identified by customers.
Preferred Technical And Professional Experience
- Systems Programming: Exposure to systems programming skills to develop and maintain components in core Kernel like Virtual Memory Management, Loader/linker. Operating System Internals: Knowledge of operating system internals and kernel environments is helpful for performing problem determination and problem source identification.
- Understanding of POWER ISA: Knowledge of POWER ISA (Instruction Set Architecture) and/or Hardware Functional specifications.
