As an SDE-II on this team, you will contribute to the design and development of greenfield systems built for Amazon scale. You'll work across the stack, from backend services and data pipelines to ML-integrated features and play a key role in shaping the technical direction of a high-growth product area.
Key job responsibilities
What You'll Do
- Design, build, and operate scalable distributed systems that power real-time eligibility and personalization experiences
- Contribute to architecture decisions for new services in a greenfield environment
- Partner with Senior SDEs, Principal Engineers, and Data Scientists to solve technically challenging problems
- Own features end-to-end from design through deployment with a focus on customer impact and operational excellence
- Drive engineering best practices across code quality, testing, and system reliability
What We're Looking For
- Robust fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented design
- Experience building and operating production services at scale (preferably in distributed systems)
- Comfort with ambiguity and the ability to break down complex problems into deliverable solutions
- A bias for action, high ownership, and a desire to learn and grow in a fast-paced environment
- Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams

About The Team
You'll be part of a founding engineering team in Bangalore, building a new platform from the ground up, a strategic investment area for Amazon focused on enabling customers to access and maximize their entitled benefits. The team operates and works alongside a strong product and science org. This is an opportunity to shape the technical foundation of a platform with significant scale and business impact.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
- 2+ years of contributing to new and current systems architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) experience
- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- Proficiency in at least one modern programming language (Java, Python, C++, or equivalent)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with microservices, event-driven architectures, or real-time data systems
- Familiarity with ML model integration or data pipeline development
- Prior experience in a 0-to-1 product build or early-stage team within a large organization
- Exposure to healthcare, fintech, or benefits-related domains is a plus
