What We're Looking For

The Software Design Assurance Team is responsible for ensuring our software products meet quality, reliability, and release-readiness standards throughout the development lifecycle. The design assurance team supports Zebra's promise of quality to our customers and is responsible for participating in design reviews, sprint refinement, build/release operations, and post-mortems, and process gap analysis to conduct release readiness assessment. This position works with a minimum level of supervision.

This position is hybrid based in Bengaluru, India.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Perform an analysis of SW Design Assurance for cloud-native SaaS Technology products and provide feedback for all the key Quality Metrics and deliverables executed by the functional teams, including:

  • Responsible for SW Quality assessment of SWS & cloud solutions. Identify deviations from stated product goals, standards, and processes.
  • Perform Software Quality Reviews, measure and monitor progress of programs under development.
  • Lead and conduct Product Release readiness reviews ensuring release criteria for software & device solutions are met and communicate all quality issues, risks, requirements gap prior to product approval.
  • Recommend latest technologies and new approaches to design and implementation of new technology
  • Should have strong knowledge of cause-and-effect relation between SW defects and potential customer impact use cases.
  • Instrument the product CI/CD pipeline and surface build-stage quality signal — code coverage trends, flaky-test detection, build stability, deployment frequency, and rollback rate — as a living engineering dashboard rather than a downstream report.
  • Experience with Software-as-a-Service development processes, release automation, observability tooling, and quality metrics for distributed cloud systems.
  • Knowledge of the SDLC, testing concepts, methodologies, metrics, automated SW testing frameworks
  • Experience in delivery and manage multi release projects in AGILE (Scrum, Scaled Agile) and knowledge of SW tools like JIRA, Confluence and Power BI
  • Guidance of the process, test methodologies, test strategy used in production of Zebra's NSI SW products and solutions including Software Stability, Stress, and performance strategies
  • Experience communicating cross-functionally and across management levels in formal and informal settings
  • Actively participate in SW Product and applications Risk Assessment and mitigation activities

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering field (Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related).
  • Minimum of 10 years experience in Software Engineering, with at least 5 years in site reliability, release engineering, or senior quality engineering roles on SaaS / cloud-native systems.
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps), observability stacks (e.g., Datadog, New Relic, Splunk, Prometheus/Grafana), and release-automation tooling — able to instrument systems directly, not only interpret dashboards.
  • Demonstrated experience with modern test architecture across unit, integration, contract, and end-to-end layers; flaky-test triage; regression-suite design; and test-pyramid discipline applied to refactor-heavy codebases.
  • Software QA automation experience with technologies such as Java, Python, JavaScript / TypeScript, or comparable.
  • Knowledge of productivity and analytics tools such as issue trackers, knowledge-base / documentation systems, BI / dashboarding tools, and CRM platforms.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to deliver an independent quality recommendation to an engineering team in which the engineer is embedded — without compromising the working relationship.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Production-incident and release-health fluency — comfortable leading post-mortems, building escape-defect feedback loops, and translating field signal into engineering priorities; credibility built from on-call experience.
  • Experience with multi-tenant enterprise SaaS domains and complex customer-facing platforms.
  • Experience working as an embedded quality / SRE partner inside a product engineering team, with demonstrated ability to maintain independent judgment while operating inside the team's day-to-day rituals.
  • Experience communicating cross-functionally and across management levels — including engineering leadership, customer success, and quality leadership — in formal and informal settings.
  • Ability to actively engage business and technology partners; present, defend, and challenge technical recommendations.
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity effectively and exercise sound judgment when evidence is incomplete.
  • Advocate for the customer and drive the highest standard of quality at every stage of the product lifecycle.
  • Instill best practices for software development, testing, and observability documentation.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality work on tight schedules.
  • Strong analytical skills and a methodical, objective approach to problem-solving.
