We are seeking a dedicated Software Backend Test Engineer to ensure the quality and reliability of our advanced robot platforms. You will play a critical role in validating core operating system components, including networking and firewall features, while collaborating with cross-functional teams to maintain high standards of performance and safety. This position offers the opportunity to work at the intersection of software and hardware, directly influencing the robustness of our robotics solutions.
Key Deliverables
- Design, write, and maintain automated tests in Python for new and existing operating system components.
- Develop comprehensive unit, integration, and regression test suites to ensure stable and reliable software releases.
- Collaborate with developers to analyze system changes, investigate failures, and enhance overall testability.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of test frameworks and quality practices within an Agile environment.
- Execute hardware-in-the-loop testing to validate software performance in real-world robotics scenarios.
- Utilize network analysis tools to perform resilience testing and verify system security configurations.
Essential Requirements
- 4 to 6 years of experience in software backend testing or quality engineering for OS-level components.
- Strong proficiency in Python for test automation, including experience with pytest and FastAPI.
- Solid understanding of the Linux environment, including systemd, network namespaces, and command-line operations.
- Hands-on experience with API testing, penetration testing, and network analysis tools like Wireshark, tcpdump, and nmap.
- Familiarity with containerization technologies such as Docker or Podman.
- Experience working with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
- Ability to work onsite in Bengaluru with a collaborative mindset for international team coordination.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with ROS2 and industrial communication protocols.
- Experience with firewall configuration (NF Tables/IP Tables).
- Knowledge of hardware-in-the-loop frameworks such as labgrid or automated power-cycling setups.
- Experience automating through robot-specific interfaces like Dashboard Server or RTDE.
- Understanding of safety standards and regulations relevant to industrial robotics.
