Job Description

The SCWO-Star Shelter is one of direct services by the Singapore Council of Women's Organisations (SCWO). It is a crisis shelter that provides temporary refuge of women and children who are survivors of domestic violence. Star Shelter provides holistic support, including provision of food and daily necessities, counselling, case management, financial assistance as well as education and recreational programmes, to help them heal from the trauma of abuse and rebuild their lives free from violence.

We are now looking for a Social Service Executive.

SCWO-Star Shelter is hiring a Social Service Executive to assist and support the Star Shelter team in terms of partnerships, programmes, administration and operations management. Being a Social Service Executive at Star Shelter, you will also have the opportunity to be a part of various advocacy projects that can make impactful changes to the society!

Key Responsibilities

Shelter Operations and Administration

  • Support the day-to-day operations and administration of Star Shelter, including facilities, supplies, cleanliness and general upkeep, records and other operational matters.
  • Maintain accurate service statistics, records and data, and prepare and submit monthly reports to relevant stakeholders, as well as other reports as required.
  • Coordinate administrative matters including meetings, correspondence, filing, documentation, and follow-up with relevant internal and external stakeholders
  • Support the implementation and review of Shelter SOPs, policies and procedures, and ensure compliance with relevant organisational, funding and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate meetings, site visits and engagements with government agencies, funders and other stakeholders.

Resident and Programme Support

  • Conduct routine rounds and check in with residents to support their general well-being and identify any needs or concerns.
  • Manage intake calls and conduct pre-admission interviews.
  • Process resident admissions and discharges.
  • Provide practical support to residents and reinforce Shelter procedures and rules where required.
  • Work with Counsellors, Care Staff and other team members to support the overall needs and operations of the Shelter.
  • Plan, coordinate and support programmes, activities and outings for residents.

Volunteer Coordination

  • Work closely with the Volunteer Management team to coordinate regular and ad-hoc volunteer support based on the needs of Star Shelter and its residents.
  • Coordinate volunteer schedules, deployment and activities.
  • Check in with Star Shelter volunteers regularly and provide the necessary support to facilitate the effective delivery of volunteer activities and services.

Organisational Support

  • Work with relevant SCWO teams on partnerships, communications, events and operational matters relating to Star Shelter.
  • Represent Star Shelter at relevant meetings, visits and external engagements as required.
  • Support organisational initiatives, events and other duties as assigned by SCWO.

Job Requirements

Qualifications and Experience

  • Degree in Social Sciences, Social Work, Psychology, Counselling or a relevant field.
  • Fresh graduates may apply but candidates with relevant working experience will have an advantage.
  • Singaporean and PR only.

Competencies

  • Good communication skills, with the ability to prepare reports and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Good organisational and coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple programmes, projects and operational responsibilities.
  • Able to maintain accurate records, statistics and other required documentation.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and common workplace applications.
  • Passionate about supporting the safety, recovery and empowerment of women and children affected by domestic violence.
  • Flexible and willing to support the operational needs of the Shelter and SCWO.
