Life at The Washing Machine Project — meaningful work. Exceptional people.

Handwashing clothes may sound like a simple task, but it poses a significant obstacle to the wellbeing and livelihood of many women worldwide. We recognise that unpaid labour is compromising lives. This needs to change.

We're The Washing Machine Project (TWMP). Our mission is to empower women to take charge of their lives by providing displaced and low-income communities with accessible, off-grid washing solutions.

Founded by Navjot Sawhney in 2018, TWMP develops innovations designed to improve women's lives. People are at the heart of everything we do, and listening to communities is integral to our work and design process.

Our values guide our daily behaviour:

  • We start with people.
  • We innovate for good.
  • We build to last.

The purpose of the role

The Social Media & Outreach Executive will support TWMP's digital presence, audience growth and lead generation through high-quality, platform-appropriate social media content and proactive outreach.

This is a commercially minded, delivery-focused role designed to turn content and engagement into qualified conversations with organisations that could help scale TWMP's impact. You will help generate international B2B leads through organic social channels, particularly LinkedIn, targeting organisations such as INGOs, NGOs, government bodies, distributors, bulk buyers and large-scale institutional partners.

Working closely with the Social Media Manager, UK Marketing & Communications Team and Partnerships colleagues, you will create, manage and optimise content while supporting lead generation, social selling, audience engagement and pipeline development.

This is not just a marketing support role. It is a revenue-linked role where content, outreach, engagement and analytics support measurable commercial and partnership outcomes.

Who we are looking for

You are a creative, commercially-minded and organised social media professional who understands that content is not only about visibility, but about building trust, generating conversations and supporting growth.

You bring strong content creation, copywriting and short-form video editing skills, alongside the confidence to engage professionally with senior stakeholders online. You know how to use LinkedIn and other social channels to build relationships, identify opportunities and generate qualified leads.

You enjoy testing ideas, learning from analytics and using digital storytelling to support a mission-led organisation while contributing directly to TWMP's growth and partnership pipeline.

Your duties and responsibilities include

Revenue and lead generation

  • Generate qualified B2B leads via organic social channels, primarily LinkedIn.
  • Introduce TWMP to relevant organisations and generate qualified conversations.
  • Identify and engage decision-makers within INGOs, NGOs, government bodies, distributors and bulk buyers.
  • Conduct social selling activity, including commenting, direct messaging and relationship-building.
  • Support pipeline development and bi-weekly reporting on outreach KPIs.
  • Use data to refine social media and outreach strategy.

Content management and execution

  • Plan, create, edit and schedule content across TWMP's social media platforms.
  • Repurpose existing assets into lead-focused content.
  • Maintain a consistent posting cadence.
  • Ensure messaging is aligned with international markets and buyer needs.
  • Produce posts, carousels, short videos, infographics and articles tailored to platform norms.
  • Support the LinkedIn content calendar, aligned with TWMP campaigns and priority messaging.
  • Monitor LinkedIn engagement, respond to comments and support day-to-day interactions.
  • Engage with relevant groups, CSR contacts and corporate decision-makers.
  • Produce social-first short-form video edits, thumbnails and captions.
  • Optimise content for visibility, retention and engagement using platform analytics.
  • Coordinate with internal teams to source footage, stories and updates.
  • Apply safeguarding, informed consent and ethical storytelling standards.

Social media growth and optimisation

  • Track platform metrics, including views, engagement, click-through rates, retention and reach.
  • Produce monthly performance summaries.
  • Use insights to improve content quality, timing, audience targeting and lead generation.

Cross-functional collaboration

  • Work with the UK team to source programme updates and field content.
  • Amplify key announcements, partnerships and milestones.
  • Keep shared folders, templates, calendars and documents organised and up to date.
  • Support partnership initiatives through aligned content delivery.

Safeguarding, risk management and ethical storytelling

  • Ensure content follows TWMP's safeguarding, privacy, consent and ethical storytelling standards.
  • Identify and escalate potential reputational, ethical or safeguarding risks.
  • Represent TWMP's mission and communities responsibly in all digital content.

Role focus

This role is designed to have an expected work split of:

  • 45% content creation and scheduling
  • 30% lead generation and outreach
  • 15% performance tracking and optimisation
  • 10% team collaboration and planning

Essential requirements

  • 2+ years experience managing social media channels.
  • 3+ years content creation and editing experience.
  • Ability to think commercially, not just creatively.
  • Experience in B2B social media or social selling.
  • Understanding of LinkedIn for lead generation.
  • Confidence engaging directly with senior stakeholders online.
  • Analytical mindset, with the ability to track and optimise performance.
  • Strong understanding of content formats, platform algorithms and best practice.
  • Experience creating and editing short-form videos and social assets.
  • Strong written communication, copywriting and storytelling skills.
  • Ability to produce platform-native content that is engaging, clear and audience-appropriate.
  • Ability to work independently while seeking guidance when needed.
  • Professionalism, reliability and responsiveness.
  • Ability to identify safeguarding, ethical or reputational risks in digital content.
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills.
  • Cultural sensitivity and alignment with TWMP's mission and values.

Desirable requirements

  • Experience targeting international audiences.
  • Experience working with non-profits, humanitarian or impact organisations.
  • Familiarity with Canva, CapCut, Adobe Suite or equivalent content creation tools.
  • Familiarity with social media analytics dashboards.
  • Familiarity with Sales Navigator.
  • Basic understanding of SEO for video content.
  • Experience supporting lead generation for institutional, CSR, NGO, government or B2B audiences.
  • Experience working across UK-India teams or international time zones.

Additional requirements

  • Right to work in India.
  • Ability to work remotely with access to reliable internet.
  • Availability for occasional evening or early calls to align with UK teams, with notice.
  • Availability on key campaign or launch days, as required.
  • Commitment to upholding TWMP's Safeguarding & Protection Policy at all times.

What you'll get

We offer a genuinely purpose-led career with a culture built on trust, autonomy and flexibility. You will help TWMP strengthen its digital presence, build trust with key audiences and generate conversations that can lead to meaningful partnerships and large-scale impact.
