Job Description

The Drop Times is looking for a Social Media Manager (0–1 year experience) to help grow and engage our global audience across technology and open-source communities.

This role is ideal for someone who understands digital conversations, enjoys building communities, and can create platform-specific strategies that increase reach, engagement, and visibility.

The Drop Times is a global media platform covering Drupal, open-source technologies, AI, digital transformation, community initiatives, and ecosystem developments worldwide.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute social media strategies aligned with editorial and audience growth goals
  • Manage and grow The Drop Times presence across LinkedIn, X, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube
  • Create engaging captions, post formats, and publishing plans tailored to each platform
  • Mobilise and engage online communities through discussions, comments, reposts, and outreach
  • Promote news stories, interviews, podcasts, events, and feature content
  • Track engagement metrics and identify opportunities to improve performance and reach
  • Coordinate with editorial and design teams on campaigns and content schedules
  • Create social creatives, posters, thumbnails, and promotional assets using Canva
  • Apply strong visual communication principles, including spacing, alignment, typography hierarchy, readability, and accessibility in social media designs
  • Stay updated on platform trends, audience behaviour, and emerging digital communication practices

Requirements

  • 0–1 year of experience in social media, digital marketing, communications, journalism, or related fields
  • Strong understanding of LinkedIn and professional audience engagement
  • Familiarity with X, Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube content workflows
  • Ability to write clear, engaging, and platform-specific social copy
  • Ability to design clean, visually balanced, and accessible social media creatives using Canva
  • Understanding of layout composition, spacing, alignment, readability, and accessibility principles in digital content
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Interest in technology, open-source communities, AI, or digital media is preferred

Preferred Skills

  • Understanding of social media analytics and reporting
  • Experience with content scheduling tools and editorial calendars
  • Familiarity with Drupal or open-source ecosystems is a plus
