Job Title: Social Media & Digital Marketing Intern – Campus Life Department

About the Role
We are looking for a creative, strategic, and digitally savvy Social Media & Digital
Marketing Intern to support the Campus Life Department at GITAM University,
Bengaluru. This role goes beyond content creation — you will be responsible for driving
digital student engagement, planning and executing marketing campaigns for upcoming
campus events and ventures, and building an active, connected online community. If

Key Responsibilities
Content Creation & Platform Management
- Plan, create, and publish engaging content (posts, reels, stories, carousels, polls) across Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, and other relevant platforms
- Develop and manage a monthly content calendar aligned with campus events, student activities, and departmental campaigns
- Write clear, creative, and platform-appropriate captions, scripts, and copy for all social media content
- Collaborate with animation, photography, and design interns to produce cohesive, high-quality digital content
- Support live event coverage through real-time posting, stories, and highlights. Student Engagement & Community Building
- Drive digital engagement among students — spark conversations, run interactive polls, Q&As, challenges, and user-generated content initiatives
- Engage actively with the campus community online — respond to comments, manage DMs, and build an enthusiastic, growing follower base
- Identify student interests and trends to tailor content that resonates with the campus audience
- Encourage student participation in online and offline activities through targeted digital outreach and community-building efforts
- Conduct social media and digital marketing workshops and interactive sessions for students
Event & Campaign Marketing
- Plan and execute end-to-end social media marketing campaigns for upcoming campus events, fests, clubs, ventures, and departmental initiatives
- Develop pre-event buzz campaigns, countdowns, teasers, and post-event highlights to maximise reach and student participation
- Coordinate with event organizers to understand goals and translate them into compelling digital marketing strategies
- Create event-specific promotional assets in collaboration with the design and animation teams
- Manage campaign timelines, coordinate cross-functional content delivery, and ensure consistent messaging across all touchpoints
Analytics & Strategy
- Track, analyse, and report on social media performance metrics — reach, engagement, impressions, follower growth, and campaign ROI
- Use data insights to refine content strategy and improve campaign effectiveness over time
- Stay updated on platform trends, algorithm changes, and digital marketing best
practices
- Explore and recommend new platforms or formats to expand the department's
digital footprint
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a program in Mass Communication, Marketing, Digital Media, Business, Design, or a related field
- Strong understanding of major social media platforms (Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube Shorts, etc.) and their content formats
- Demonstrated ability to plan and run social media campaigns — from concept to execution to reporting
- Excellent written communication skills — ability to craft engaging captions, campaign copy, and scripts in English and/or regional languages
- Basic proficiency in design and editing tools such as:
- Canva
- Adobe Express / Photoshop
- CapCut / InShot or similar tools
- Ability to read and interpret analytics from Meta Insights, LinkedIn Analytics, or similar Dashboards
- Strong sense of aesthetics, visual storytelling, and content strategy
- Good communication and interpersonal skills — comfortable engaging with students, staff, and event teams
- Ability to manage multiple campaigns and projects simultaneously and meet deadlines
Preferred Skills
- Proven experience managing a personal, college, or brand social media account with demonstrated engagement or growth
- Familiarity with short-form video production and editing (Reels, YouTube Shorts) - Knowledge of digital marketing concepts — SEO basics, hashtag strategy, influencer outreach, and community management
- Experience planning event promotions, launch campaigns, or awareness drives
- Basic understanding of paid social media campaigns, boosted posts, or Meta
Ads
- Interest in branding, marketing strategy, or growth communication
- Experience conducting workshops, presentations, or student engagement
