Role Summary:
The Finance Snowflake India Lead will be responsible for leading the Snowflake data platform for Finance Corporate Services, including architecture, development, and production support (BAU).
This role requires a hands-on leader who can drive end-to-end data ownership for Finance Data, ensure high availability of critical financial pipelines, and manage the support model for production workloads.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Snowflake Architecture & Platform Ownership
- Own and evolve the Snowflake data platform architecture for Finance Corporate Services.
- Design scalable, secure, and high-performance data models (dimensional, ELT/ETL patterns).
- Define best practices for:
- Data ingestion (batch & near real-time)
- Data transformation and modeling
- Data security, governance, and access controls
- Partner with global architecture teams to align with enterprise data strategy.
2. Development & Delivery Leadership
- Lead offshore teams in design, development, and deployment of Snowflake-based solutions.
- Drive end-to-end delivery lifecycle (SDLC):
- Requirements analysis
- Design & build
- Testing (SIT/UAT)
- Release management
- Oversee development of:
- ELT pipelines (ADF / Databricks / similar)
- Data marts for Finance (GL, Subledger, Reporting)
- Ensure adherence to coding standards, performance optimization, and reusability.
3. Production Support & BAU Management
- Own production stability and support operations for Snowflake Finance platform.
- Lead incident management, problem management, and root cause analysis (RCA).
- Drive resolution of critical pipeline failures, including:
- Data ingestion failures
- EL pipeline issues
- Reporting discrepancies
- Establish and govern:
- Runbooks, monitoring, alerting frameworks
- SLA / KPI tracking (MTTR, incident volumes)
- Coordinate with L1/L2/L3 support teams and stakeholders for quick resolution.
4. Data Pipeline & Integration Management
- Oversee data integration from multiple source systems (e.g., GL, Treasury, Advisory, etc.).
- Manage dependencies across:
- Upstream systems (databases, source apps)
- Downstream consumers (BI / reporting tools)
- Ensure data reconciliation, completeness, and accuracy across systems.
5. Stakeholder & Vendor Management
- Act as the primary offshore lead for Snowflake Finance platform.
- Collaborate with:
- Onshore IT Finance leads
- Business stakeholders (Finance users)
- Vendors / consultants
- Provide regular status updates, risk management, and escalation handling.
6. Governance, Compliance & Controls
- Ensure adherence to:
- Data governance standards
- Audit and regulatory requirements
- SDLC and change management processes
- Implement data lineage, controls, and reconciliation frameworks.
7. Team Leadership & Capability Building
- Lead and mentor a team of Snowflake developers, data engineers, and support analysts.
- Drive knowledge management and cross-training across development and support teams.
- Build a strong offshore operating model aligned to global delivery expectations.
Required Skills & Experience:
Technical Skills:
- Strong expertise in Snowflake architecture and administration
- Experience with:
- Cloud platforms (Azure preferred)
- Data integration tools (ADF, Databricks, or similar)
- Strong SQL and data modeling expertise
- Experience with:
- ELT/ETL pipeline design
- Performance tuning and query optimization
- Knowledge of data governance and security practices
Functional Expertise:
- Good understanding of Finance domain:
- General Ledger (GL)
- Subledger
- Financial reporting
- Experience in handling financial data pipelines and reconciliations
Production Support Experience:
- Proven experience managing critical production environments
- Strong exposure to:
- Incident management
- RCA and problem management
- SLA-driven support models
Leadership & Soft Skills:
- Strong leadership and team management experience
- Ability to work in global, cross-functional teams
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to handle high-pressure production issues effectively
Preferred Qualifications:
- 12+ years of Industry experience
- Graduation in Computer Engineering or in related field.
- Snowflake certifications (e.g., SnowPro Core)
- Experience in banking / financial services industry
- Exposure to large-scale data transformation programs
