Job Overview
Milestone Technologies is currently searching for a Snowflake Data Engineer candidate to join our IT Development team.
Responsibilities
Snowflake Administration
- Manage and administer Snowflake accounts, warehouses, databases, schemas, roles, and users
- Implement and maintain role-based access control (RBAC), security policies, and data governance standards
- Monitor warehouse usage, query performance, and cost optimization
- Handle cloning, time travel, failover, replication, and disaster recovery strategies
- Perform capacity planning, scaling, and environment management (Dev / QA / Prod)
- Troubleshoot performance issues, failed tasks, and platform incidents
Development
- Design and develop stored procedures, UDFs, and Snowflake Scripting solutions
- Build and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines using Snowflake-native features (Streams, Tasks, Snowpipe, Dynamic Tables)
- Implement Change Data Capture (CDC) patterns to identify, track, and process incremental data changes
- Automate recurring data workflows, deployments, and operational tasks
- Develop data models, views, and transformations to support analytics and reporting
- Integrate Snowflake with external sources (cloud storage, APIs, messaging systems, BI tools)
Automation & Operations
- Automate provisioning, monitoring, alerting, and housekeeping activities
- Create and manage Snowflake Tasks and orchestration workflows
- Develop CI/CD pipelines for database objects and deployment processes
- Document technical standards, runbooks, and best practices
Collaboration & Governance
- Partner with data engineering, analytics, and business teams on data requirements
- Enforce data quality, lineage, and compliance standards
- Support audits, access reviews, and security compliance initiatives
- Mentor junior team members and contribute to platform roadmap planning
Skills
- 4+ years of hands-on experience with Snowflake administration and development
- Strong expertise in SQL, stored procedures, and Snowflake Scripting
- Experience with CDC implementation (Streams, Tasks, Snowpipe, or equivalent patterns)
- Proven ability to automate data workflows and operational tasks in Snowflake
- Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts, dimensional modeling, and ELT/ETL design
- Experience with role-based security, masking policies, row access policies, and data governance
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and integration with Snowflake
- Strong troubleshooting skills for query tuning, warehouse optimization, and performance issues
- Experience working in Agile/DevOps environments with version control (Git) and CI/CD tools
Compensation
Estimated Pay Range:
