ROLE DESCRIPTION
We are seeking an accomplished Sitecore Architect to lead and manage the migration of our current Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) on-premises CMS to Sitecore XM Cloud. Beyond overseeing the migration, the role will continue as a core member of the digital experience platform team, responsible for architectural governance, solution design, and development leadership as the Sitecore ecosystem evolves.
The successful candidate should possess deep technical expertise in enterprise CMS platforms and have practical experience designing scalable, secure, and high-performance architectures. This role demands both architectural vision and a hands-on approach to complex development, supporting internal delivery teams and accelerating implementation efforts.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Platform Migration Leadership
Plan, design, and lead the comprehensive migration strategy from AEM on-premises to Sitecore XM Cloud. The scope includes architecture, content models, templates, workflows, and media assets.
Enterprise Architecture Design
Develop and maintain the overall Sitecore XM Cloud architectural landscape. Responsibilities encompass integrations, API strategy, content governance, and establishing multi-site and multi-language frameworks in line with business and technical goals.
Technical Ownership & Governance
Establish Sitecore architecture standards, development guidelines, and deployment practices. Serve as the principal contact for all technical decisions related to Sitecore platform design and best practices.
Hands-on Development
Hands on for complex development tasks, create reference implementations, and mentor developers in building scalable and maintainable components within Sitecore's composable and headless environment.
Integration & Interoperability
Architect and supervise the integration of Sitecore with enterprise systems such as CRM, DAM, adobe analytics, and marketing automation platforms, creating a unified digital experience ecosystem.
Security, Performance, and Reliability
Ensure that all solutions comply with enterprise security protocols and data privacy regulations. Optimise the cloud environment to achieve performance, scalability, and resilience.
Cross-functional Collaboration
Work closely with product owners, business analysts, UX designers, DevOps, and QA teams to translate business vision into actionable architectural and technical solutions.
Post-migration Stewardship
Continue to drive optimisation, feature expansion, and innovation within the Sitecore ecosystem after migration. Establish the platform as a scalable foundation for future digital initiatives, maintaining oversight of enhancements, upgrades, and cloud performance tuning.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent experience.
- 812+ years in web/enterprise engineering with 5+ years leading Sitecore implementations (multisite, multilingual, hightraffic).
- At least 8 years of experience in enterprise-level content management systems, with proven architecture and development experience in Sitecore (XM Cloud, XP, or 10+ headless).
- Strong proficiency with .NET Core, C#, Next.js, React, GraphQL, and REST APIs.
- Hands-on experience with a solid understanding of templates, components, workflows, and content models, especially for migration alignment-optional
- Good understanding of Azure Cloud services, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines using DevOps tools and infrastructure-as-code approaches (ARM/Bicep/Terraform).
- Experience designing or implementing Sitecore Composable DXP components (Content Hub, Personalize, Search) is advantageous.
- Demonstrated AEM Sitecore migration leadership (discovery launch hypercare).
- Strong understanding of data transformation, ETL processes, and content synchronisation across CMS systems.
- Ability to lead by example through hands-on in complex development areas.
- Expertise in modular design, clean architecture principles, and performance optimisation in large-scale web solutions.
- Sitecore Certifications (Developer/Architect; XM Cloud preferred)
SKILL REQUIREMENTS
- Sitecore Cloud (XM Cloud / SitecoreAI): authoring, Pages, Experience Edge, Headless SXA, Deploy app, environment governance.
- Headless: Next.js + JSS, SSR/ISR/SSG, Preview mode, internationalization, GraphQL/REST APIs.
- Architecture patterns: Helix, modular content architecture, multitenant/multisite.
- Salesforce integration: patterns using Sitecore Connect for Salesforce CRM (XP) and CDPtoSalesforce for XM Cloud via API/partner solutions; identity mapping and lead synchronization.
- Marketo integration: Munchkin deployment (preferably via AEP Tags Marketo extension), SPAaware configuration, and form submission pathways.
- Adobe Analytics: AEP Web SDK implementation (datastreams/report suites, XDM or data object mapping) managed through Adobe Launch or direct alloy.js; migration from AppMeasurement/Analytics extension where needed.
- Adobe Launch (AEP Tags): extension governance (Web SDK, Marketo), environment libraries, publishing flow, and QA (Debugger/Assurance).
- Personalization & Data: Sitecore Personalize/CDP (Engage/Cloud SDK), eventing, custom conditions/decisioning models, consent/GDPR alignment.
- DevOps/Cloud: CI/CD pipelines, containers, image versioning, Azure DevOps/GitHub, caching/CDN/Edge, monitoring/alerts.
- Migration: AEM fundamentals (OSGi, Sling, JCR, Dispatcher) to inform content mapping and risk mitigation
- Search: Sitecore Search / Algolia / Coveo patterns and tradeoffs for XM Cloud.
- .NET/C# and Web foundations to guide integration and review.
KEY COMPETENCIES
- Architecture leadership: can drive consensus, make tradeoffs explicit, and document decisions (ADRs).
- Integration leadership across CRM/MA/Analytics/Tagsable to align roadmaps, data contracts, and consent mechanisms, and to arbitrate tool responsibilities (e.g., CDP vs. Salesforce Data Cloud)
- Migration pragmatism: balances parity vs. redesign, avoids liftandshift, and protects timelines/SEO.
- Enablement mindset: upskills devs and authors on headless/Pages/Personalize; codifies governance.
- Datadriven: sets SLIs/SLOs and performance roadmaps; uses analytics to steer improvements.
- Communicating with Impact - Expressing thoughts, feelings, and ideas in a clear, succinct, and compelling manner in both individual and group situations; adjusting language to capture the attention of the audience.
KEY SKILLS FUNCTIONAL COMPETENCIES (Mandatory)
- Translating marketing goals into architectural choices and roadmaps; aligning SEO, Content Ops, Analytics, and Security; setting success metrics and tradeoffs.
- Architecture Decision Records (ADRs), coding/Helix standards, tag governance policy, runbooks, and enablement for authors/marketers.
