About Aviz Networks
Aviz Networks is an AI-driven networking company helping enterprises and service providers accelerate adoption of SONiC, open networking, and AI-powered operations. Backed by Cisco Investments and integrated with NVIDIA Spectrum-X, Aviz enables customers to standardize, simplify, and future-proof their network infrastructure.
Role Overview
As a Support Engineer for the Aviz Service Node (ASN), you will be the primary technical point of contact for enterprise and telecom customers deploying next-generation network visibility solutions. You will troubleshoot complex packet-processing workflows, optimise metadata extraction for AI workloads, and ensure the seamless integration of ASN with telecom and cloud-native environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Technical Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve Tier 2/Tier 3 issues related to ASN deployments, including packet drops, metadata inaccuracies, Kafka export and GTP correlation errors.
- Performance Tuning: Optimise ASN configurations for high-throughput environments by leveraging technologies such as DPDK to ensure zero-loss packet processing at high speeds.
- Infrastructure Integration: Assist customers in deploying ASN across diverse environments, including Bare Metal Servers, Virtual Machines (VMware/KVM), and Public Cloud (AWS/Azure).
- Visibility Fabric Design: Guide customers on advanced packet broker functions such as de-duplication, slicing, VxLAN de-encapsulation, and header stripping.
- Collaborative Escalation: Work closely with the Engineering and Product teams to reproduce bugs in lab environments and validate hotfixes or new feature releases.
- Documentation: Create knowledge base articles, How-to guides, and RCA (Root Cause Analysis) reports to empower the customer self-service portal.
Required Technical Skills
- Deep Packet Analysis: Expert-level proficiency with Wireshark, tcpdump, and analysing PCAP files to identify protocol-level anomalies.
- Linux Systems: Strong command-line skills in Linux (Ubuntu/CentOS/Debian). Understanding of system performance monitoring (top, iostat, netstat).
- Networking Protocols: Solid understanding of L2/L3 protocols (BGP, OSPF, VLANs) and tunnelling protocols (VxLAN, GRE, GTP).
- Virtualisation & Containers: Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and Hypervisors (ESXi/KVM).
- Open Networking: Familiarity with the SONiC (Software for Open Networking in the Cloud) ecosystem or other NOS (Network Operating Systems).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Network Packet Brokers (NPBs) like Gigamon, Ixia, or Netscout.
- Knowledge of AI/ML data centre fabric requirements (RDMA, RoCEv2).
- Scripting ability in Python or Bash for automating routine diagnostic tasks.
- Experience with telemetry and monitoring stacks (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Kafka).
Soft Skills
- The Investigator Mindset: A relentless drive to find the why behind a packet drop or a system crash.
- Communication: Ability to translate complex technical jargon into clear, actionable instructions for customers.
- Adaptability: Comfortable working in a fast-paced Networking 3.0 startup environment where products evolve rapidly.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Network Engineering, or a related field.
- 3+ years in a technical support or systems engineering role, specifically within networking or cybersecurity.
- Certifications such as CCNP, CCIE, or specialised Linux/Cloud certifications are a plus.
