Site Reliability Engineer, Network Engineering and Operations - DevOps - Platform Engineering
Who We Are
The Network Engineering and Operations team is a core part of Cisco, delivering development and infrastructure support for a wide range of critical applications, including Cisco's internal Platform Engineering and Automation services. We have a strong focus on bringing DevOps technology and process to bear in automating deployment and management of our Network Services systems. In addition, we actively develop, improve and maintain several internally developed applications that provide critical services for Cisco's network.
What You'll Do
We are looking for a DevOps Site Reliability Engineer who has strong background and interest in both infrastructure (storage/compute/networking) and automation.
You will have technical responsibility for Cisco's Network Engineering and Operations Platform Engineering environment and the development and support of the automations which power it.
You will lead forward looking efforts to improve and modernize the environment. In addition, you will have influence into and the ability to contribute to development in other critical areas such as evaluation and analysis of nascent solutions and their appropriate fit in future state strategies.

Who You Are
- A DevOps automation engineer with a background in software development or networking with exposure to DevOps concepts, preferably at enterprise scale. Excellent communicator, comfortable crafting a message and interacting with others.
- Demonstrated experience in automating systems, comfortable with development activities using Python/Shell to create and consume API-based services and integrations as well as interacting with consumers of provided services in a support role while running things in a virtualized and containerized infrastructure on Linux.
- Significant expertise in Linux administration, containerization technologies (Docker/Podman), and Container orchestration (k8s) approaches are mandatory, also demonstrating AI standards for our daily work.
Required
- 8+ years of experience with the implementation of solutions with a desire to learn and go deep on topics related to application and operating system administration in a virtualized, containerized, and orchestrated cloud-based environments, preferably in large enterprise
- Proven track record of developing automation solutions and ability to understand and maintain, support, and transform previously developed automations with Python or shell programming in Linux environments
- Familiarity with Agile delivery processes
- Strong hands on proficiency in Python and Shell programming
- Understanding of modern development practices such as CI/CD and microservices architectures (Git, Jenkins, Terraform, Ansible, etc.)
- Strong hands on experience with containers (Podman and Docker) and orchestration automation frameworks in a Linux-based (RHEL) environment (k8s)
- Willingness to provide on-call support.
- Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent) in STEM-related field Strongly Preferred.
- Integrates knowledge of build, automation, and deployment with expertise in coding to improve service reliability for existing or new systems and adapts for regions, countries, or customers.
- Exposure to and familiarity with ServiceNow (CMDB and ITIL - Especially Incident, Request, and Change Management.
- Fundamental exposure to Jira.
- Exposure to public cloud a plus.
- Familiarity with Cisco Catalyst Center, Spaces, EPNM, NSO, or Infoblox Platforms highly desired.
- CCNA certification a plus.
- Kubernetes certified administrator or developer certification a plus
- RHEL certified administrator a plus
- Working in Hybrid work culture, require candidate to report to office for 2 days every week (Tuesday's and Thursday's).
