Job Description

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Site Head will provide complete administrative and operational leadership for the Tumb site. This senior role requires strong people management, discipline enforcement, HR/IR handling, safety governance, reporting accuracy, client coordination, equipment oversight, and seamless execution of all day-to-day activities.

The Site Head will be fully accountable for site performance, compliance, workforce management, client satisfaction, and cost control.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Complete Site Administration & Governance

–    Oversee site administration including HR, attendance systems, compliance documentation, audits, permits, and statutory requirements.

–    Ensure disciplined execution of reporting, documentation, training, inspections, and manpower deployment.

–    Maintain strict control over uniforms, PPE issuance, muster rolls, shift handovers, and documentation standards.

2. Manpower Leadership, HR/IR & Discipline Management

–    Lead a large workforce including supervisors, operators, drivers, helpers, and administrators.

–    Drive workforce discipline in attendance, punctuality, shift adherence, and behavioural standards.

–    Handle grievances, interpersonal conflicts, and IR-sensitive matters with fairness.

–    Coordinate with site HR for recruitment, onboarding, induction, training, disciplinary actions, counselling, and reviews.

–    Ensure manpower deployment meets operational requirements and client expectations.

3. Client Coordination & Performance Delivery

–    Act as the single point of contact for the client at Tumb.

–    Attend review meetings, share updates, and address issues proactively.

–    Ensure service delivery meets or exceeds client KPIs.

–    Build trust, manage escalations, and maintain transparent communication.

4. Operations Control & Daily Execution

–    Monitor daily operations across shifts including yard activities, movement planning, manpower allocation, and shift discipline.

–    Ensure SOPs, work instructions, and safety checklists are followed without deviation.

–    Supervise shift in-charges to ensure zero deviation from client protocols.

5. Equipment & Asset Oversight

–    Track availability, deployment, and utilisation of equipment (reach stackers, forklifts, ITVs, MHE, etc.).

–    Oversee fuel consumption, logbooks, inspections, and preventive maintenance.

–    Ensure documentation accuracy and prevent misuse or operational inefficiencies.

6. Safety, Compliance & Audit Readiness

–    Reinforce a safety-first culture through toolbox talks, safety briefings, and compliance checks.

–    Ensure adherence to PPE norms, emergency procedures, and client HSE guidelines.

–    Maintain audit-ready documentation for internal, client, and statutory inspections.

–    Lead incident investigations and corrective actions.

7. Vendor & Contractor Management

–    Monitor performance of manpower, equipment, housekeeping, and utility vendors.

–    Validate vendor bills and maintain cost discipline.

–    Identify inefficiencies and implement improvement projects.

8. Reporting, MIS & Communication

–    Ensure timely submission of daily, weekly, and monthly reports.

–    Track KPIs including manpower utilisation, equipment uptime, productivity, safety, and cost.

–    Coordinate with Head Office MIS and Operations teams for transparency and performance visibility.

–    Maintain high-quality documentation that is accurate, complete, and audit-ready.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Education

▸  Graduate degree required

▸  MBA / PGDM preferred

▸  Engineering diploma or degree is an added advantage

Experience

▸  12–20 years in site operations, logistics yards, ICD (Inland Container Depot), CFS (Container Freight Station), Rail terminal operations, industrial operations, manufacturing plants, power plants, mining sites, or O&M contracting roles.

▸  Proven ability to manage large teams, client interactions, discipline, and full site operations.

▸  Prior experience in ICD / CFS operations or Rail terminal management is highly preferred; working knowledge of container movement, rake handling, and customs/port coordination is a strong advantage.

▸  Strong knowledge of site administration, HR/IR, safety, and operational reporting.
