About the Client

Our client is an established, fast-growing global freight forwarding company. Known for delivering customized, end-to-end multimodal forwarding and specialized supply chain services worldwide, they are actively expanding their Asia-Pacific footprint.

They are seeking a commercial and operational leader to join as Air & Ocean Freight Director, based in Singapore. This role takes full P&L ownership of the air and ocean freight verticals in Singapore (with extended strategic oversight into Malaysia), driving aggressive revenue growth, carrier procurement strategies, and station operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

• P&L & Business Strategy: Assume full P&L responsibility for Air and Ocean Freight products across Singapore (and oversee Malaysia operations), driving volume expansion, yield enhancement, and healthy gross margins.
• Commercial Growth & Trade Lane Development: Partner closely with regional and local commercial sales teams to target enterprise MNC accounts, participate in strategic global/regional RFQ tenders, and secure high-yield cargo.
• Carrier Procurement & Capacity Management: Spearhead rate negotiations, Block Space Agreements (BSA), and allocation strategies with core commercial airlines, shipping lines, and wholesale co-loaders to secure competitive pricing and reliable capacity.
• Operational Leadership & Quality Control: Oversee day-to-day air and ocean gateway operations, ensuring strict compliance with international aviation/maritime standards, customs regulations, and internal KPIs (dwell time, on-time delivery, SLA adherence).
• Team Leadership & Development: Lead, mentor, and build high-performing product, operations, and pricing teams across stations, fostering a commercially minded, customer-centric culture.

Requirements

• Minimum 10–12+ years of progressive freight forwarding experience, with at least 4–5 years in a senior product management, operational leadership, or station management capacity.
• In-depth, robust domain expertise in Air Freight is essential, complemented by solid operational and commercial understanding of Ocean Freight.
• Deep operational and commercial familiarity with the Singapore freight forwarding market is highly preferred; experience covering or liaising with the Malaysia market is a distinct advantage.
• Demonstrated track record of managing full branch or product P&L, leading carrier negotiations, and actively supporting enterprise-level commercial deal conversions.
• Exceptional stakeholder management, strategic problem-solving abilities, and fluency in English to interface with global executives, regional stations, and major cargo carriers.
