Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role for a Sign Language Interpreter based in Patna, India. The Sign Language Interpreter will facilitate communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing individuals and hearing personnel by interpreting spoken language into sign language and vice versa. Daily responsibilities include interpreting in various settings such as training sessions, events, and meetings, providing translation of written materials when necessary, and promoting understanding of Deaf culture. The role also involves collaborating with teams to ensure accessibility and inclusion for all participants.
Qualifications
- Proficiency in Sign Language and the ability to interpret between spoken language and Sign Language
- Strong skills in Interpreting and Translation with attention to accuracy and cultural nuances
- In-depth understanding of Deaf Culture and the ability to promote inclusivity in various environments
- Excellent verbal and non-verbal Communication skills, along with the ability to build rapport with individuals from diverse backgrounds
- Flexibility to work on-site in Patna and participate in a variety of events and environments
- Certification or prior experience as a Sign Language Interpreter is an advantage
- Commitment to empowering people with disabilities and fostering an inclusive environment
