SHORT FORM VIDEO EDITOR TRAVEL

@akiunframed | Instagram Reels YouTube Shorts Carousels

About Aki Unframed

Aki Unframed is a cinematic travel documentary brand built around long-form films, raw storytelling, and going to the places most people will never see in person. The films cover remote landscapes, disappearing cultures, and personal journeys shot and edited to feel like cinema, not content. This year is a big one. Multiple travel films are in the pipeline and short form content is becoming a core part of how we grow and share this world with our audience.

The Role

We're looking for a Short Form Video Editor who can take professionally shot, color-graded footage and edited photos and transform them into cinematic short form content Reels, Shorts, and Carousels that genuinely stops people mid-scroll.

This is not a 9-to-5 clip-and-post job. We need someone who watches the long-form film, understands the emotional arc, and brings their own creative instinct to how that story gets told in 3090 seconds. You'll be working directly with Aki and will be a real part of how this brand grows.

What You'll Be Working With

All source material is already professionally edited and color graded. You will receive:

  • Long-form film footage (color graded, ready to use)
  • Professionally edited photographs
  • Narration and audio from the original films
  • Brand direction and references

Your job is to shape this into short form content that captures the spirit of each film and drives people to watch the full thing.

What We're Looking For

Cinematic Eye You understand pacing, visual rhythm, and what makes a cut feel intentional. You don't just trim clips you build a moment.

Sound Design You know that sound is half the emotion. You're confident selecting music, working with ambient audio, and syncing cuts to feeling not just beat.

Storytelling Instinct You can watch a two-hour documentary and find the three shots that tell the whole story. You understand narrative compression.

Platform Fluency You know what works on Reels vs. Shorts vs. Carousels. You understand hooks, retention, and how to make cinematic content perform without making it feel algorithmic.

Accountability You deliver on time. You communicate proactively. If something isn't working, you say so early and bring a solution. No chasing. No excuses.

Brand Passion You genuinely care about travel, documentary filmmaking, or visual storytelling. This isn't a filler job for you it's a brand you want to help build.

What We Don't Want

  • Someone who needs constant direction to produce basic work
  • Trend-chasers who will push the brand toward generic travel content aesthetics
  • Editors who are passive we want ideas, not just execution
  • Anyone who sees this as a side task they'll get to eventually

Your Responsibilities

  • Edit Reels, Shorts, and Carousels from existing footage and photos
  • Propose creative angles, formats, and concepts for each piece of content
  • Suggest music, pacing, and sound design choices
  • Stay consistent with the brand's cinematic identity across all platforms
  • Deliver drafts on agreed timelines with revision rounds built in
  • Stay across what's working on short form platforms and bring relevant ideas to the table

Ideal Background

  • Portfolio of cinematic short form travel or documentary edits (essential)
  • Strong working knowledge of Premiere Pro, Final Cut, or DaVinci Resolve
  • Experience with Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts specifically
  • Understanding of caption, subtitle, and text motion design for short form
  • A genuine passion for travel, film, or both

This Role is Right for You If...

You've watched a travel documentary and thought I could cut a killer Reel from that. You have opinions about music choices. You send unsolicited ideas because you couldn't help yourself. You want to grow with a brand that's building something real not churn content for a faceless client list.

To Apply

Send the following to [your contact email]:

  • A short note on why Aki Unframed resonates with you (not a cover letter just honest)
  • 23 examples of your short form work, ideally cinematic or travel-related
  • Your availability and rate

Compensation

25,000 - 50,000 INR/mo (Based on your experience and value you will bring)
