About the Role

i95Dev is seeking a Shopify Solution Architect to lead the design and delivery of scalable, high-performance eCommerce solutions on the Shopify platform.

This role is responsible for translating business requirements into robust technical architectures, guiding development and QA teams, and ensuring successful delivery of Shopify implementations for global clients. The Solution Architect will own the overall solution architecture, integration design, and technical decision-making throughout the project lifecycle.

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone with deep Shopify expertise who can bridge business needs, technical architecture, and delivery execution.

Primary Platform: Shopify / Shopify Plus

Secondary Platform: Magento / Adobe Commerce, BigCommerce (Nice to have)

Reports To: Head of Technical Services

Key Responsibilities

1. Solution Architecture & Technical Design

Design end-to-end Shopify solutions including storefront architecture, checkout customization, catalog management, promotions, order lifecycle, and customer experiences.

Architect Shopify Plus capabilities including:

• Checkout extensibility (UI Extensions)
• Shopify Functions
• Shopify Flow automation
• B2B features (companies, catalogs, price lists)

Define scalable solution architecture across:

• Theme layer
• Custom apps
• Integrations
• Data flows

Ensure the solution follows Shopify best practices for performance, scalability, and maintainability.

Evaluate and recommend third-party Shopify apps vs custom development based on business needs, risk, and scalability.

2. Integration Architecture

Design integration patterns between Shopify and enterprise systems such as:

• ERP
• OMS
• PIM
• CRM
• Payment gateways
• Marketplaces

Define integration strategies including:

• API-based integrations
• Webhook-driven workflows
• Event-driven processing
• Data synchronization strategies

Design for resilience with:

• error handling
• retry strategies
• rate-limit management

Ensure secure and scalable integrations using Shopify Admin API, Storefront API, GraphQL, REST, and Webhooks.

3. Technical Leadership & Delivery Governance

Provide architectural guidance to Shopify developers and QA engineers.

Lead technical solution walkthroughs and architecture reviews.

Ensure development teams implement solutions aligned with the approved architecture.

Define technical standards, coding best practices, and integration patterns.

Act as the escalation point for technical issues during development and testing.

Review deliverables before client demos and production deployments.

4. Requirements Analysis & Solution Documentation

Collaborate with client stakeholders and internal teams to understand business objectives and technical requirements.

Translate requirements into clear solution designs including:

• architecture diagrams
• integration flows
• technical specifications
• implementation guidelines

Maintain solution documentation throughout the project lifecycle and support knowledge transfer to support teams after launch.

5. Client & Stakeholder Engagement

Engage with client business and technical stakeholders to present solution designs and architectural decisions.

Facilitate architecture discussions, requirement validation, and scope clarification.

Identify technical risks and propose mitigation strategies early in the project lifecycle.

Support pre-sales initiatives including:

• solution scoping
• effort estimation
• technical proposal preparation
• architecture presentations.

Required Skills & Experience

Shopify Expertise (Must Have)

• 8+ years overall software development experience
• 5+ years hands-on Shopify / Shopify Plus experience
• Strong knowledge of Shopify Plus capabilities, including:
• Checkout extensibility
• Shopify Functions
• Shopify Flow
• B2B capabilities
• Deep understanding of:
• Shopify Admin API
• Storefront API
• GraphQL and REST APIs
• Webhooks
• Strong understanding of Shopify data models including:
• products and variants
• metafields and metaobjects
• orders and fulfillment flows
• pricing and discount models

Integration & Architecture

• Experience designing integrations with enterprise systems such as ERP, OMS, or PIM platforms
• Strong understanding of:
• API architecture
• REST and GraphQL
• OAuth authentication
• webhook-based event flows
• Experience designing scalable architectures for multi-store and multi-region Shopify implementations

Technical Foundation

Working knowledge of:

• HTML
• CSS
• JavaScript
• Shopify Liquid

Understanding of:

• cloud infrastructure
• CDN architecture
• storefront performance optimization

Experience with Git-based development workflows and CI/CD pipelines.

Soft Skills

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to translate complex business requirements into scalable technical solutions

Nice to Have

• Experience with Magento / Adobe Commerce
• Exposure to Headless Shopify architectures (Hydrogen or other frameworks)
• Experience integrating Shopify with SellerCloud, NetSuite, SAP B1, or similar ERP systems
• Experience designing B2B eCommerce solutions
• Prior experience in solution consulting or pre-sales roles
• Shopify Partner certifications

Working Model & Expectations

• Work in EST-overlap schedule (7:00 AM – 4:00 PM EST) to collaborate with US clients
• Participate in architecture discussions with client stakeholders
• Guide distributed development and QA teams across locations
• Maintain strong communication and documentation throughout project delivery
