Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Shift Operations
  • Oversee the flow of alerts, tickets, and monitoring events throughout the shift.
  • Ensure engineers follow predefined procedures and routines, escalation paths, and runbooks.
  • Confirm that all shift tasks, health checks, and operational routines are performed on schedule.
  • Provide hands on guidance to engineers regarding troubleshooting and monitoring tools.
  • Validate that monitoring alerts and dashboards correctly represent system health.
  • First Line Incident Coordination
  • Act as the initial incident coordinator for events that occur during the shift.
  • Ensure correct triage, prioritization, and initial mitigation actions are taken.
  • Escalate issues to the NOC Team Leader and tier 2 teams when needed.
  • Quality and Consistency
  • Summarize ongoing incidents, key events, and items that require follow up.
  • Highlight issues that need attention from the next shift or the NOC Team Leader.
  • Ensure ticket updates, logs, and shift documentation meet required standards.
  • Identify recurring issues or operational gaps and pass them to the NOC Team Leader for further handling.
  • Support operators with their day-to-day operational needs and issues during the shift.
  • Enforce shift discipline, including response times, monitoring practices, and accurate handovers.

Qualifications

  • Strong troubleshooting skills across network, system, and cloud environments.
  • Knowledge of network protocols such as TCP, UDP, DNS, HTTP, HTTPS, SSH, and BGP fundamentals.
  • Experience with Linux system administration, including logs, services, resource usage, and basic shell operations.
  • Understanding of Windows Server fundamentals, including event logs, services, and performance monitoring.
  • Familiarity with cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, or GCP, including basic resource troubleshooting and dashboard monitoring.
  • Hands on experience with monitoring tools such as Icinga, Prometheus,PagerDuty, Grafana, or equivalent platforms.
  • Ability to read and interpret logs, alerts, metrics, health checks, and telemetry data.
  • Understanding of VPNs, firewalls, load balancers, proxies, and general network infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with ticketing and incident management systems such as Jira, or similar.
  • Strong communication skills, situational awareness, and calm decision making under pressure.
  • High level of English, both written and verbal.
