Job Description

Role: Shift In-charge - Vehicle (Mainline, Kitting)

Location: Chatrapati Sambhaji Nagar (Aurangabad)

Reporting to: Production Lead - Vehicle

Team name: Production , Manufacturing Operations

About the Team and the Role:

The Production team at Ather is responsible for leading and aligning shift members to achieve key performance indicators under the SQCDM pillars, ensuring seamless battery manufacturing operations.

This role is for a Shift In-charge - Vehicle who will align 3M resources to meet daily operational goals, plan on-the-job training for associate multiskilling, and maintain a performance-oriented work environment.

  • Lead Shift Operations & SQCDM:
    • You will manage associates and staff to consistently achieve Safety, Quality, Cost, Productivity, and Morale (SQCDM) targets and goals.
    • You will monitor, measure, and report on production-related process performance and general operational issues.
    • You will plan, analyze, and resolve bottlenecks in the production processes to ensure output targets are met.
  • Master Vehicle Assembly & Technical Processes:
    • Gearbox Assembly Expertise: You will provide technical oversight for the 2-wheeler Gearbox sub-assembly and integration, ensuring strict adherence to torque standards and backlash specifications.
    • Kitting & Material Flow: You will oversee the execution of Kitting methodologies on the line, ensuring precise kit preparation, accurate consumption, and zero-starvation scenarios to maintain takt time.
    • Process Health: You will ensure smooth running and good health of the production processes, along with the upkeep of plant and equipment.
  • Champion Quality & Standards:
    • You will ensure that the quality of the product produced within the shift is strictly in line with the company's quality systems, processes, and procedures.
    • You will work closely with New Product Development (NPI), Quality Assurance, and Maintenance personnel to seamlessly implement new product introductions and prevent problems with products, tooling, or fixtures.
    • Maintain audit readiness for internal process and stock audits as well as external ISO certifications.
    • Coordinate change management processes (MQ1, SOR, DAP) and collaborate with Spec Ops to implement containment actions.
  • Drive Safety & Team Development:
    • Safety Compliance: You will ensure that health and safety rules and regulations are adhered to during the shift, dealing with all related matters using company resources in line with Health and Safety policy.
    • Talent Growth: You will develop talent on the shop floor, identifying core competencies and providing coaching to enhance team skills.
    • Culture: You will promote a culture of continuous improvement (Kaizen) and maintain high motivation levels in the workforce.
    • Collaboration: You will work closely with peers and other stakeholders to ensure smooth cross-functional operations.
Experience and Qualifications:

  • Education: B.E/Diploma in Mechanical, Industrial, Production Engineering, or EEE.
  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in a Vehicle Line (Automotive or 2 wheeler Manufacturing preferred), with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.

Must-Have Competencies:

  • Execute expert-level people management to lead and align the entire production team during shifts.
  • Utilize advanced presentation and communication skills to share relevant information and updates with stakeholders.
  • Apply advanced lean manufacturing and productivity improvement techniques to optimize workstation operations.
  • Leverage advanced quality improvement tools and problem-solving methodologies like A3 and PDCA to achieve quality targets.
  • Technical Proficiency:
    • Hands-on experience in Gearbox/Transmission assembly processes, including knowledge of critical fits, tolerances, and testing.
    • Strong exposure to Kitting methodologies, material handling systems, and line-side inventory management.
    • An understanding of the principles of Lean Manufacturing (5S, Kaizen, JIT).
  • Regulatory Knowledge: An understanding of industry safety standards and labor laws.

Good to have Competencies:

  • Apply basic knowledge of Integrated Management Systems (ISO 14001/45001/9001) and Industry 4.0 digital manufacturing concepts.
  • Utilize SAP and JIRA for operational tracking and management of technical stories.
  • Demonstrate familiarity with assembly and production concepts to support various workstations.
  • Use G-Suites effectively for managing data, reports, and team communications.
