Role: Shift Incharge - Mech Specialist - Paintshop.

About the Role and Team:
- Master Robot Programming & Optimization:
- You will proficiently use the robot teach pendant and offline programming software to create, modify, and save complex paint programs.
- You will develop smooth and consistent robot movement paths that minimize overspray and eliminate manual touch-up requirements.
- You will analyze existing robot programs to optimize motion sequence, speed, and acceleration, reducing painting cycle time without compromising quality.
- You will create and restore program and parameter backups to minimize downtime in the event of controller failure or major process changes.
- Ensure Precision Application & Quality:
- Application Control: You will set and monitor charging voltage and current to maximize paint transfer efficiency and minimize material waste. You will accurately control paint flow rates, ensuring correct viscosity and temperature for consistent atomization.
- Atomizer Maintenance: You will calibrate, clean, and change atomizer bells, air caps, and nozzles to ensure a perfectly uniform spray pattern.
- Defect Resolution: You will systematically trace paint finish defects (e.g., streaks, heavy edges, poor metallic orientation) back to specific robot or parameter setting errors.
- Proactive Monitoring: You will proactively monitor and correct minor deviations in robot motion or application settings before they result in quality non-conformance.
- Execute Critical Equipment Maintenance:
- Core Systems: You will perform scheduled and corrective maintenance on sophisticated ACED baths, rectifiers, and paint application robots.
- Thermal Systems: You will ensure the optimal performance and calibration of high-temperature curing ovens and pre-treatment heating systems to guarantee proper adhesion.
- Fluid & Environment: You will maintain pumps, piping, and automated dosing equipment for chemicals/solvents, as well as the large HVAC systems essential for controlling dust, temperature, and humidity.
- Safety & Compliance: You will service and certify specialized fire detection, suppression, and interlock systems designed for the volatile paint shop environment.
- Water & Chemicals: You will maintain water purification and chemical dosing systems that control the quality of pre-treatment baths.
- Drive Reliability & Strategy:
- Data-Driven Maintenance: You will accurately log work orders, failure modes, and PM completion data into the CMMS to enable data-driven decisions. You will continuously refine maintenance schedules based on failure data.
- Root Cause Analysis: You will lead or participate in small, cross-functional projects aimed at eliminating the root causes of major or recurring equipment losses.
- Resource Management: You will maintain optimal stock levels for high-cost, long-lead-time parts and coordinate with AMC service providers for outsourced maintenance.
- Operator Empowerment: You will train and support paint shop operators to perform routine checks, cleaning, and minor adjustments on their own equipment.
Experience and Qualifications:
- Education: Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Mechatronics, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering.
- Experience: 3 - 5 years of experience in a paint shop environment (Automotive or 2 wheeler Manufacturing preferred), with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.Relevant experience in Robotic programming and trouble shooting
Must Have Competencies:
- Robotics Expertise:
- Hands-on experience with robot teach pendants and offline programming (e.g., Fanuc, ABB, Yaskawa).
- Ability to interpret robot controller error codes and alarm logs to diagnose electrical, mechanical, or software faults.
- Skill in conducting routine checks on robot joints, gearboxes, cables, and connections.
- Technical Proficiency:
- Knowledge of HVAC principles, pumps, and fluid handling systems.
- Understanding of electrical systems (rectifiers, sensors, interlocks).
- Familiarity with ACED and pre-treatment chemical processes.
- Tools: Proficiency in using CMMS software for maintenance planning and logging.
