Sheet Metal Operator
Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Sheet Metal Operator to fabricate aerostructure sheet metal parts. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience in sheet metal fabrication processes and be capable of reading engineering drawings and maintaining quality standards in an aerospace manufacturing environment.
Qualification
- ITI Pass-Out (Mechanical/Fitter/Sheet Metal Trade preferred)
- 2–3 years of relevant work experience or completed apprenticeship
- Good understanding of engineering drawings and GD&T concepts
Key Responsibilities
- Perform sheet metal forming, trimming, heat treatment dressing, and shape correction activities.
- Carry out drilling, trimming, and dimensional adjustments as per drawings.
- Operate NC bending machines, rubber press machines, and shearing machines.
- Use tool blocks, drill jigs, and measuring instruments effectively.
- Interpret 2D and 3D engineering drawings and execute jobs accordingly.
- Ensure dimensional accuracy and quality compliance during manufacturing.
- Follow aerospace quality standards and manufacturing procedures.
- Maintain workplace discipline as per 5S, TPM, Lean Manufacturing, and OEE practices.
Required Skills
- Hands-on experience in sheet metal fabrication and assembly.
- Knowledge of drilling, trimming, bending, and heat treatment processes.
- Understanding of annealing, solutionizing, and aging processes.
- Knowledge of sheet metal gauges, thickness, material specifications, and marking techniques.
- Familiarity with aerospace-grade sheet metals and fabrication requirements.
- Ability to use measuring instruments and sheet metal tools.
- Knowledge of AS9100D and aerospace quality standards.
- Good understanding of GD&T and technical drawings.
