Role Overview
The SharePoint Support Engineer will be responsible for supporting, administering, and maintaining
SharePoint Online in an enterprise environment. This role is centred around
SharePoint operations and support, ensuring platform stability, governance, and a seamless user experience. Exposure to other Microsoft 365 and automation technologies will be considered an added advantage.
Core Skill Area
- SharePoint Online support, administration, and troubleshooting
Key Responsibilities
- Provide L2/L3 production support for SharePoint Online
- Administer modern SharePoint sites and site collections
- Manage user access, permissions, and sharing configurations
- Troubleshoot issues related to access, content, performance, and search
- Support SharePoint-related OneDrive scenarios where applicable
- Perform root cause analysis and implement long-term fixes
- Ensure adherence to SharePoint governance, security, and compliance standards
- Coordinate with internal teams and Microsoft support for complex issues
- Assist with SharePoint enhancements, modernization, and optimization initiatives
- Support migration activities when required (Classic to Modern, site restructuring)
- Create and maintain SOPs, runbooks, and knowledge base documentation
- Participate in service reviews, audits, and platform health checks
Operational Responsibilities
- Handle incidents, service requests, and changes via ticketing tools
- Monitor service health and proactively identify potential risks
- Contribute to continuous improvement of SharePoint support processes
- Guide end users and junior team members on best practices
Additional / Advantageous Skills
- Microsoft 365 services (OneDrive, Teams, Exchange Online)
- Azure Active Directory (users, groups, roles)
- Power Platform (Power Automate, Power Apps)
- PowerShell scripting for administration and automation
- Experience with SharePoint migrations
- Familiarity with ITIL-based support environments
Soft Skills
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Clear communication with business and technical stakeholders
- Ability to work independently in a production environment
- Strong documentation and ownership mindset
Education
- Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, or equivalent experience
