Job Context & Major Challenges

Job Context: Alupuram works has to produces and sells over 12000 tons per annum of Aluminium Extrusion and caters to a wide spectrum of end users covering applications in Architectural (18%), Industrial (26%), Electrical (14%), Transport (14%), Transport (12%), Consumer Durables (4%), Defence (9%), and other miscellaneous (17%) segments. Today Alupuram has over 700 customers producers over 7000 difference profiles (in the extrusion presses) in over 30 alloys (which are cast at Aluuram Cast House). Extrusion manufacturers are fiercely competing in their own niche markets, often denying entry into some segments. In order to remain competitive extrusions have to be processed taking into consideration the tailor made requirements from the customer. To have a consistent and stable process in the plant conforming to ISO 9001 : 2015 QMS requirements - to identify the flaws, determine the root cause and have permanent solution by implementing corrective actions in the system. Analysis of the factors contributing to the major plant objectives say recovery, throughput and utilisation and provide inputs to the operation and Engineering department to have a stable and consistent process. Organise technical trainings provide inputs to the staff and operators to have a stable operation and consistent product quality. Provide system interlocks to arrest operational flaws and make the system operator independent.

KRA1	Consistent and stable process	To identify the flaws in process, determine the root cause and have permanent solution by implementing corrective actions in the system. To implement SPC & SQC in the plant and raise alarms when shift is observed. Drive the process improvement initiatives like FPY, LPA, furnace qualification, equipment reliability initiatives etc. and provide timely feedback to Operation and Engineering departments. Analysis of the factors contributing to the recovery, throughput and utilization and provide inputs to the operation and Engineering department to have a stable and consistent process.
KRA2	Process improvement	To carry out activities to suggest improvement in processes for having stable product quality, improved productivity, reduced energy conservation and reduction in cycle time. To benchmark world class extrusion products, identify the gaps and suggest recommendations for process changes to attain world class quality.
KRA3	Organise technical trainings provide process related inputs to the operation and maintenance team	To organize technical trainings, discuss the feedback of internal and external rejections, Communication regarding PIR ( plant investigation report ), corrective and preventive action etc. to the staff and operators
KRA4	Analysis of process deviation & reduction of process deviations by finding the root cause.	Why Why analysis, NC Analysis, corrective and preventive action identification and implementation
KRA5	Ensure effective working of WCM subcommittees of Strategic Quality Management.	Implementation of identified actions to achieve the control indicators and result indicators
KRA6	Safety Management	To monitor and eliminate unsafe acts and conditions so as to achieve zero injuries in the working area. To ensure 100% compliance with statutory requirements.
