Primary responsivities include:
- Preoperative Evaluation:
- Conduct thorough assessments of the patient's medical history, physical status, and any comorbid conditions to determine the most appropriate anaesthesia approach.
- Discuss anaesthesia risks and obtain informed consent from patients before surgery.
- Anaesthesia Administration:
- Administer general, regional, or local anaesthesia during surgeries and medical procedures.
- Carefully monitor and adjust anaesthesia levels to maintain appropriate sedation and prevent discomfort.
- Intraoperative Care:
- Continuously monitor patients vital signs (heart rate, blood pressure, oxygen levels) during surgery.
- Adjust anaesthesia dosage as required and manage any intraoperative complications such as breathing issues or sudden blood pressure changes.
- Postoperative Care:
- Oversee recovery from anaesthesia, ensuring patients regain consciousness safely and are stable.
- Manage post-surgery pain using analgesics or regional anaesthesia techniques and address any complications such as nausea or breathing difficulties.
- Critical Care:
- Administer anaesthesia and manage ventilation for critically ill patients, especially in intensive care units (ICUs).
- Provide emergency resuscitation and support for patients in life-threatening conditions.
- Collaboration & Teamwork:
- Work closely with surgeons, nursing staff, and other medical professionals to ensure smooth surgeries and effective patient care.
- Participate in team discussions for complex cases and emergency situations.
- Documentation & Reporting:
- Maintain comprehensive records of all anaesthesia procedures, patient responses, and post-operative care.
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and hospital protocols.
