Job Purpose

  • AutoCAD Drafting and material Science with minimum 10 years experience.

  • Job Context Hindalco Renukoot, since its inception, has a full-fledged Design Office comprising of Civil & Structural, Mechanical & Spare Parts Development sections (Reverse Engineering) capable of undertaking all improvements/developmental works related to Aluminium Production processes. Hindalco gives equal importance to service departments as compared to production department and has been continuously enhancing its capacity mainly through in house efforts. In-house central technical design department is meant to provide Engineering Solutions to all plants to achieve higher production, better maintenance, improvements in existing practices, Safety & Aluminium Sales Promotion.

    Major Challenges

    • Planning, scheduling and prioritizing to meet target, time and urgencies of plant engineering
    • On Job/site measurement of dimension, maintain the accuracy and sketching drawings.
    • Managing In-house development of dwg. for various spare parts and import substitution.
    • Design and engineering with space constraint and minimum down time and minimum cost.
    • Managing completion of plant engineering jobs, timely and cost effectively.
    • Enhance production by modifying existing equipment with in-house Re-engineering.
    • Coordinating plant people in case of breakdown, shutdown, modification, changes and emergencies.
    • Planning Improvement/ revamping of jobs in existing plants with old/partial availability of engineering data.
    • Offer Effective & efficient technical solution to internal & external customer within budget & schedule.
    • Keep abreast of latest / current technology for improvements and design optimization with energy efficiency.
    • To be innovative and creative with limited resources.
    • Control measures to plant people for minimizing wastages of water, compressed air, oil, steam etc.
    • Ensuring Adherence to various codes & standards in preparation of drawings.
    • Ensure full satisfaction to internal & external customers.
    • Maintaining Good teamwork and conducive work environment.
    • Motivating the employees of the department and getting their full output.

    Plant and Equipment Sustainability

    • Develop Spare Parts Design
    • Minimize equipment downtime
    • Breakdown Management
    • Maximize Plant and Equipment Availability
    • Develop Sketches of worn-out parts
    • Develop CAD drawings of the parts
    • Prioritize and schedule tasks
    • Root Cause Analysis of breakdown.
    • Follow standards and codes guidelines in the design.
    • Visit site for On- job measurement.
    • Incorporate best operation and maintenance practices in the design.

    New Product Development for Strategic growth

    • Develop design for New product as part of future strategic growth plan
    • Modification/improvement jobs

    • Convert Conceptual design into CAD drawing
    • Co-ordination with other department to eliminate interface issues.
    • Participate in Basic engineering and budgeting
    • Participate in technical specifications and design data development
    • Co-ordinate with upper management to resolve holds and bottlenecks.

    Emergency and Crisis Management

    • Major Breakdown Management
    • Emergency/ Urgent modification in plant
    • Support in Recovery from Fire and Accident.
    • Develop design for major breakdown in plant
    • Develop design required to recover from Fire and Accidents
    • Develop design for urgent jobs required to mitigate production loss.

    Cost Management

    • Develop alternate design for high cost imported items
    • Develop local vendors for high cost, long lead and critical items
    • Plant and Equipment modification to reduce operation and maintenance cost
    • Propose alternate design and materials
    • Co-ordination with R&D department for material specification
    • Co-ordination with local vendor / suppliers for alternate material development.
    • Report maximum cost reduction Kaizens.
    • Co-ordinate for in-house development of spare part
    • Optimize use of office resources

    Risk Management

    • Risk Identification
    • Risk mitigation Plan
    • Participate in risk mitigation plan for New Product failure
    • Participate in risk mitigation plan for production loss by substitution of Design and material

    Self and People Development

    • Identify Training needs for self and subordinates
    • Ensure conductive and motivating atmosphere at workplace
    • Identify training need for self and subordinates
    • Discuss my development plan with my manager
    • Discuss Subordinate Development plan
    • Managing in-house Technical and developmental training.
    • Keeping abreast of latest technology, standards and codes

    Plant and Design Safety

    • Ensure best safety standards in design
    • Ensure 100% adherence to safety guidelines at workplace
    • Ensure 5S implementation at workplace and document management
    • Review & monitor implementation of Safety procedures and use of PPEs.
    • Co-ordination for on job training related to job safety, Environmental hazards, safe working practices
    • Report Unsafe conditions and Near Miss
    • Adhere to 5S guidelines in maintaining office workplace and documents.
