To ensure adherence to compliances related to a hygienic, sanitation, and clean environment across the Birla Copper plant complex, including the DHIL Jetty, while promoting sustainability through the creation of a Green Belt and effective horticultural management.

  • Scrap lifting -handling of 01 dumper and contract manpower of 10
  • Cleaning of entire road network in plant (From Jetty to gate no 6 - Approx 77405 square meter on daily basis)

Birla Copper has a copper smelting and refining complex at Dahej producing copper cathodes, cast copper rods, precious metals such as gold silver and selenium, fertilizers, and other bi-products such as sulphuric acid, phosphoric acid etc. in multiple plants with different technologies requiring diverse competencies. Recognised globally for quality as it holds ISO 9001, 14001, 27001, 50001 and OHSAS 18001 certifications and registered on the London Metal Exchange as Grade-A copper brand.

This role is responsible for overseeing day to day housekeeping and horticulture in the plant area covering the smelters, refineries, other process plants, CCR Plants raw material handling, Captive power plants, Oxygen plants, WTPs and STPs, other associated plants and DHIL Jetty as well as connecting roads at the Birla Copper plant complex at Dahej.

Job Challenges: Difficulty in maintaining motivation levels of housekeeping staff in view of the heat and pollution in the plants as well as remote location

  1. Planning
  • Giving inputs for preparing plan and budget for contractual housekeeping workmen deployment in different departments and giving inputs for the manpower budget Providing inputs to the F&C team with respect to housekeeping,
  1. Operational Excellence
  • Oversee housekeeping on a day to day basis across Birla Copper plants including cleaning of sewages and ponds.
  • Overseeing cleaning of water coolers and office furniture in the plant area Partnering creation and maintenance of Green Belt across Birla Copper
  1. Budgetary Controls
  • Tracking and optimizing expenditure with respect to OPEX and CAPEX budgets with focus on consumable usage and contractual manpower deployment vis a vis budget

  1. Compliance
  • Ensuring adherence to systems and processes pertaining to all policies and processes as well as IMS principles
  • Ensuring implementation compliances related to health, safety and environment norms ensuring hygiene sanitation facility for workforce.
  • Ensuring compliance of statutory and regulatory requirement with focus on statutes pertaining to contract labour deployment
  1. Customer Centricity
  • Customer-centricity Generating MIS reports with respect to housekeeping schedules and manpower deployment
  • Minimizing response time
  • Ensure hygiene and sanitation of more than 90 toilet blocks in all shifts.
  • Providing admin support to other departments of Birla copper as when required.
  1. Sustainability and Process Improvement
  • Scrap lifting of the entire plant handling of dumper and contract manpower of 10
  • Cleaning of entire road network in plant (From Jetty to gate no 6 - Approx 77405 square meter on daily basis)
  • Implementing corrective action with respect to audit reports (internal and external)
  • Participating in Kaizen, 5S and other such improvement initiatives
  • Implementing improvement action with respect to HSE, safety and productivity issues
  • Partnering digitization initiatives
  • Providing support in recovery of copper concentrate in RMS zone.
  • To provide required support to ensure smooth industrial relations within company guidelines IR sensing.
