Responsibilities
- Design and maintain CMDB architecture, including CI classes, relationships, and data models aligned with CMDB best practices and CMDB Health KPIs.
- Configure and optimize ServiceNow Discovery schedules, credentials, and probes/sensors to ensure accurate and complete CI population.
- Integrate CMDB with external data sources using Import Sets, Transform Maps, and APIs. Implement CMDB Data Certification, Reconciliation, and Data Governance processes.
- Conduct service identification workshops with application owners and infrastructure teams to determine business services and dependencies.
- Configure Service Mapping patterns, traffic-based discovery, and top-down mapping to create accurate Application Services.
- Develop and maintain custom patterns for complex applications where out-of-the-box patterns are insufficient.
- Ensure service maps are kept up-to-date and linked to the CMDB for accurate impact analysis and change management.
- Customize ServiceNow modules using Business Rules, Script Includes, Client Scripts, UI Actions, and Flow Designer.
- Develop integrations for automated CI updates from monitoring tools, asset systems, and cloud platforms.
- Maintain Discovery and Service Mapping MID Servers and troubleshoot connectivity issues. Apply ServiceNow security best practices, including ACLs for CI and Service Mapping data. Governance & Best Practices
- Work with the Platform Governance team to align CMDB and Service Mapping with enterprise architecture standards.
- Define and enforce naming conventions, CI class structures, and relationship types. Conduct CMDB Health assessments and recommend remediation strategies.
- Provide training and documentation for CMDB and Service Mapping processes to operations teams.
Technical Skills required:
- Strong hands-on experience with ServiceNow CMDB, Discovery, and Service Mapping.
- Proficiency in JavaScript and ServiceNow Server-side/Client-side scripting.
- Knowledge of network protocols (TCP/IP, SNMP, WMI, SSH, HTTP, HTTPS) for Discovery.
- Understanding of application architectures (web servers, app servers, databases, APIs).
- Experience with ServiceNow MID Server configuration and troubleshooting.
