Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced Lead Quality Engineer to own testing and quality assurance across the ServiceNow platform. You will translate business requirements into scalable, risk-based test coverage and lead manual and automated testing across ServiceNow modules, workflows, integrations, upgrades, and patches.
This is a hands-on role requiring strong ServiceNow technical knowledge, test automation experience and effective collaboration with global teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze business requirements and ServiceNow specifications to create test strategies, test plans, test cases, test data, and end-to-end scenarios.
- Plan, execute, and document manual and automated testing across ServiceNow modules, workflows, integrations, and releases.
- Lead functional, regression, integration, API, upgrade, and patch testing.
- Build and maintain automated test suites using ServiceNow Automated Test Framework and external automation tools.
- Test REST and SOAP integrations using tools such as Postman, Rest Assured, and SOAP UI.
- Maintain requirement traceability, test coverage, execution results, and release-quality reporting.
- Own the defect lifecycle, including logging, prioritization, tracking, resolution verification, and closure.
- Conduct root cause analysis and recommend preventive measures for recurring defects.
- Define upgrade and patch-testing strategies that protect critical business processes and minimize disruption.
- Partner with business analysts, product owners, developers, and other stakeholders to clarify acceptance criteria and identify risks early.
- Participate actively in Agile ceremonies, including refinement, sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.
- Mentor junior engineers in quality engineering, test automation, and ServiceNow configuration best practices.
- Promote consistent QA standards, automation adoption, and continuous improvement across engineering and business teams.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in software testing or development, including at least 4 years working with ServiceNow.
- Strong experience in both manual and automated testing.
- Hands-on expertise with ServiceNow Automated Test Framework.
- Experience with at least one external automation or API-testing tool, such as Selenium, Rest Assured, Postman, or SOAP UI.
- Practical experience testing REST and SOAP integrations involving ServiceNow.
- Proficiency in ServiceNow development and scripting, including:
- JavaScript and Glide APIs
- Client Scripts and Business Rules
- UI Policies and Catalog Scripts

- Experience with ServiceNow capabilities such as:

- Experience with the ServiceNow development lifecycle, update set migration, deployments, upgrades, and patch testing.
- Familiarity with Agile or Scrum delivery, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps automation.
- Experience with test-management and defect-tracking tools such as Jira, HP ALM, or equivalent platforms.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to anticipate risks and recommend improvements.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and take end-to-end ownership of deliverables.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Preferred Certifications
- ServiceNow Certified System Administrator
- ServiceNow Certified Application Developer
- Relevant ServiceNow Certified Implementation Specialist credentials, such as ITSM, Discovery, or Event Management
- ITIL v3 or ITIL 4 certification
Remote Working Expectations
- Must be based in India and able to work effectively in a remote delivery model.
- Comfortable collaborating with offshore and onshore teams across multiple time zones.
- Willing to provide reasonable working-hours overlap with global stakeholders when required.
- Able to communicate progress, dependencies, quality risks, and blockers clearly in a distributed environment.
