Job Title: ITOM & CMDB Developer
Role Summary
The ITOM & CMDB Developer is responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing IT Operations Management (ITOM) and Configuration Management Database (CMDB) solutions within ServiceNow. The role focuses on ensuring discovery, event management, and CMDB data integrity to support operational excellence and business service visibility.
Key Responsibilities- ITOM Implementation & Development
- Design and implement ServiceNow ITOM modules including:
- Discovery
- Service Mapping
- Event Management
- Cloud Discovery & Integrations
- Configure MID Servers, discovery schedules, and credentials for infrastructure visibility
- Develop and optimize event correlation rules, alert management, and noise reduction mechanisms
- CMDB Management & Data Quality
- Design, maintain, and enhance CMDB aligned with CSDM framework
- Ensure data quality through:
- Completeness
- Accuracy
- Compliance
- Implement identification and reconciliation rules (IRE)
- Build and manage CI class models, relationships, and taxonomy
- Integrations & Automation
- Develop integrations with monitoring and asset tools (e.g., Azure, Puppet, AWS, Datadog, SolarWinds, Flexera, etc.)
- Enable API-based discovery and reduce reliance on credential-heavy scanning
- Automate data ingestion and reconciliation processes using:
- REST/SOAP APIs
- Service Graph Connectors
- Implement workflows, business rules, and scripts for operational automation
- Monitoring & Event Management
- Configure event ingestion pipelines and alert normalization
- Design event correlation and deduplication strategies
- Integrate monitoring tools and ensure actionable alerts lead to incidents where required
- Improve MTTR through intelligent alerting and service context
- Governance & Best Practices
- Define and enforce CMDB governance processes and standards
- Drive adoption of best practices like:
- Pattern-based discovery
- API-first integrations
- Least privilege access
Technical Skills
Required Skills & Experience- Strong experience in ServiceNow ITOM modules:
- Discovery, Service Mapping, Event Management
- Deep understanding of CMDB, CSDM, and data modeling
- Hands-on expertise with:
- MID Server configuration
- Scripting (JavaScript, Glide APIs)
- REST/SOAP integrations
- Knowledge of infrastructure technologies:
- Cloud (Azure/AWS)
- Servers, Network, Databases
- Experience with monitoring tools integration
Preferred Qualifications- ServiceNow Certified:
- CIS - Discovery
- CIS - Service Mapping
- CSA / CAD
- Experience with:
- Service Graph Connectors
- AIOps / Predictive Intelligence
