Instrumentation Service Engineer

Job Summary

The Instrumentation Service Engineer is responsible for the installation, commissioning, calibration, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of instrumentation and control systems at customer sites. The role requires ensuring maximum equipment reliability, providing technical support, preparing service reports, and maintaining high standards of safety and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

- Install, commission, and calibrate field instruments, sensors, transmitters, and control systems.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on instrumentation equipment.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot faults in PLC, HMI, SCADA, and data acquisition systems.
- Conduct system testing and ensure equipment performance meets project specifications.
- Prepare daily service reports, maintenance reports, and technical documentation.
- Provide technical support and training to customers and site personnel.
- Coordinate with project, engineering, and operations teams for successful project execution.
- Ensure compliance with company HSE policies and client safety requirements.
- Maintain service tools, calibration equipment, and spare parts inventory.
- Travel to customer locations, including offshore and remote sites, as required.

Required Qualifications

- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Instrumentation Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 2–5 years of experience in instrumentation installation, commissioning, or field service (experience in oil & gas is preferred).
- Knowledge of pressure, temperature, flow, level, and load measurement systems.
- Familiarity with PLCs, HMIs, SCADA systems, industrial communication protocols, and data acquisition systems.
- Ability to read P&IDs, electrical drawings, and wiring diagrams.
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
- Good communication and report-writing skills.
- Valid driving license and willingness to travel extensively.

Preferred Skills

- Experience with drilling rigs, workover rigs, or oilfield instrumentation systems.
- Knowledge of Ex-proof equipment and hazardous area installations.
- Familiarity with Modbus, CAN, Ethernet/IP, and other industrial communication protocols.
- Basic networking and computer hardware knowledge.
