Job Description

This role is for a Service Engineer specializing in EV Charging infrastructure. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in the seamless deployment and uptime of Electric Vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure, encompassing installation, commissioning, preventive and corrective maintenance, and technical support for both AC and DC EV chargers. This is a field-intensive role requiring hands-on technical expertise, customer interaction, and a strong commitment to service quality.

Key Responsibilities

Installation & Setup

  • Carry out physical installation and mounting of AC & DC EV chargers.
  • Handle all electrical terminations from the supply panel to the charger input.
  • Ensure proper earthing, cable routing, and MCB/MCCB connections.

Commissioning

  • Power ON the charger and check voltage/current readings.
  • Configure parameters as per CMS/network instructions.
  • Verify communication with backend systems (OCPP, SIM config, etc.).

Preventive Maintenance

  • Perform scheduled maintenance checks (tightening, cleaning, firmware checks).
  • Inspect connectors, cables, fans, and internal components.
  • Log observations and proactively report findings.

Corrective Maintenance

  • Attend breakdown/service calls for on-site support.
  • Diagnose issues using a multimeter, test software, or required tools.
  • Replace faulty components or modules (e.g., fuses, PCB, relays, contactors, modules).

Documentation & Reporting

  • Submit installation/service reports with photos and checklists.
  • Record part usage, downtime, and work done accurately.
  • Maintain a tracker for identified issues, resolutions, SLA adherence, and faulty spare tracking.

Customer Interaction

  • Explain fault causes and resolutions to site in-charge or customers.
  • Train site staff on charger usage and safety basics if required.

Compliance & Safety

  • Always follow PPE usage and lockout/tagout procedures.
  • Report unsafe practices or site conditions proactively.
  • Ensure chargers are installed and commissioned as per safety norms.
  • Ability to meet 12hr/24hr service SLAs.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Education: Diploma / B.Tech / ITI in Electrical or Electronics.
  • Field service experience (EV sector preferred).
  • Familiarity with AC/DC charging systems (3.3kW-240kW).
  • Ability to travel locally and to nearby locations.
  • Basic tools and knowledge of safety procedures.
  • SLA-Based Fault Closure with proper Documentation.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer management skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Strong ownership and ability to solve problems quickly.
