The
Service Delivery Engineer – Commercial Items supports the creation, maintenance, and quality management of engineering and commercial item master data across ERP, PLM, and CAD systems. The role focuses on operational execution, adherence to defined standards, and day-to-day service delivery for item master data processes.
Working closely with Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations, and senior data specialists, the position helps ensure accurate, compliant, and consistent item data that supports engineering efficiency, procurement, manufacturing, and global system operations.
Areas of responsibility
- Support creation, update, and lifecycle management of engineering and commercial items in ERP and PLM systems such as Infor LN / Baan, SAP, and PDM.
- Execute item master data requests for raw materials, fasteners, piping components, assemblies, and standard parts following established governance models.
- Ensure compliance with defined item naming conventions, attribute standards, classifications, and quality checks.
- Assist with engineering classification activities, including Customs Codes, SAC Codes, and internal engineering taxonomies.
- Perform data validation, quality checks, and audits to maintain accuracy and completeness of item master data.
- Support change management activities, including item revisions and updates initiated by Engineering or Supply Chain teams.
- Assist in Cadmatic and CAD data enrichment tasks, ensuring required metadata is correctly linked to 2D/3D models.
- Collaborate with engineering teams using CATIA, SolidWorks, 3DEXPERIENCE, and other CAD tools to interpret drawings and models.
- Contribute to the preparation and maintenance of SOPs, work instructions, and process documentation.
- Act as a reliable execution resource within the engineering data and master data services team.
- Escalate data inconsistencies, system issues, or process gaps to senior specialists when required.
Basic Requirements Of The Position
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Production, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 5–7 years of experience in engineering data, item master data, or related support roles.
- Hands-on experience with mechanical components and industrial parts.
- Working knowledge of ERP, PLM, or PDM systems and item/BOM structures.
- Exposure to 3D CAD tools such as CATIA or SolidWorks.
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and 3D models.
- Basic understanding of manufacturing and procurement processes.
- Experience in engineering-driven industries (e.g., Industrial Machinery, Energy, Pulp & Paper) is an advantage.
- Basic exposure to SQL or scripting is a plus but not mandatory.
