Job Description
A Service Advisor acts as the main point of contact between customers and the service department. They help customers understand vehicle maintenance and repair needs, provide cost and time estimates, and ensure a smooth service experience from check-in to vehicle delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Greet customers and listen to concerns about vehicle performance or issues
Schedule service appointments and open repair orders
Explain recommended maintenance and repairs in a clear, customer-friendly way
Provide accurate cost estimates and timelines
Communicate customer needs to technicians and relay updates back to customers
Upsell preventive maintenance when appropriate (ethically and transparently)
Review completed work with customers and answer questions
Handle payments, warranties, and service records
Resolve customer complaints professionally and efficiently
Maintain a clean, organized service desk and accurate documentation
Required Skills Qualifications
Strong communication and customer service skills
Basic knowledge of automotive systems (or willingness to learn)
Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
Computer skills (service software, email, scheduling systems)
Problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills
Professional appearance and attitude
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience in customer service or automotive service
Knowledge of vehicle maintenance schedules
Sales or upselling experience
High school diploma or equivalent
Work Environment
