As an L3 Server Administrator, you will be responsible for the design, deployment, administration, optimization, and troubleshooting of enterprise server environments (Windows and/or Linux). This senior-level role involves handling escalations, advanced problem-solving, automation, and collaboration with virtualization, storage, and networking teams to ensure high availability, performance, and security of server infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide L3 operational support for Windows and/or Linux server environments.
- Install, configure, and maintain Windows Server (2016/2019/2022) and Linux distributions (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu, SUSE).
- Manage Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, WSUS, and Certificate Services for Windows servers.
- Perform patching, OS upgrades, and vulnerability remediation.
- Troubleshoot escalated incidents including OS, hardware, cluster, and integration issues.
- Manage high availability and clustering solutions (Failover Clusters, Always-On, Pacemaker, Corosync).
- Administer file/print services, IIS/Apache, NFS/SMB, and other server roles.
- Integrate and support VMware, Hyper-V, and cloud-based servers (Azure, AWS, GCP).
- Implement and monitor backup/recovery and disaster recovery strategies.
- Automate server operations using PowerShell, Bash, or Python scripting.
- Perform capacity planning, performance tuning, and security hardening.
- Maintain runbooks, SOPs, and documentation in line with ITIL practices.
- Participate in on-call support rotation and provide RCA for major incidents.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Extensive experience in Windows/Linux server administration (6-10+ years).
- Strong expertise in Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, clustering, and patch management (Windows).
- Strong knowledge of Linux system services, package management, LVM, SELinux/AppArmor.
- Familiarity with VMware/Hyper-V virtualization and integration with storage/SAN.
- Experience with monitoring tools (SCOM, Nagios, Zabbix, SolarWinds).
- Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.
- Knowledge of IT security standards including hardening, patch compliance, and auditing.
- Scripting/automation experience using PowerShell, Bash, Python, or Ansible.
- Willingness to work in rotational shifts (shift cab allowances provided).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate / MCSE.
- Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) or equivalent Linux certifications.
- Experience with cloud-based server administration (Azure, AWS, GCP).
- Familiarity with DevOps tools such as Ansible, Puppet, Chef, Terraform.
