About the Role
We're seeking a Sensor Systems Lead / Architect to design and operationalize complex, defense-grade sensor networks for Honeycomb, our on-premise real-time IoT and analytics platform.
You will architect sensor intelligence pipelines, ensuring data integrity from physical acquisition to edge analytics and AI working across hardware, embedded, and data teams to deliver reliable sensing architectures for harsh environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect end-to-end sensor data pipelines acquisition, conditioning, synchronization, fusion, and edge transmission.
- Define integration frameworks and hardware abstraction layers for Honeycomb Edge/Core.
- Lead sensor selection, validation, and qualification for industrial, mobility, and defense domains.
- Design and manage multi-sensor networks (IMU, vibration, acoustic, visual, environmental, positional).
- Oversee signal conditioning, calibration, and diagnostics for deterministic performance.
- Implement standards for time sync (PTP/NTP/GPS) and data fidelity across distributed systems.
- Collaborate with embedded and AI teams to optimize preprocessing, compression, and fusion algorithms.
- Work with vendors on custom sensor modules and rugged enclosures.
- Ensure EMC compliance, ruggedization, and operational qualification in field environments.
- Lead architecture reviews, documentation, and mentor teams on integration practices.
- Contribute to roadmaps for sensor intelligence (predictive calibration, self-diagnostics).

Technical Expertise
- 5+ years designing and deploying sensor systems in industrial, defense, or high-reliability environments.
- Strong grasp of motion, pressure, temperature, flow, acoustic, optical, and environmental sensors.
- Expertise in signal processing, noise reduction, and sensor fusion (Kalman, complementary, adaptive).
- Familiarity with RS485, CAN, Modbus RTU/TCP, Ethernet, MQTT, OPC-UA.
- Experience with embedded systems (STM32, ESP32) and hardware-software co-design.
- Proven ability to build scalable, deterministic data acquisition systems.
- Bonus: AI-assisted sensing, computer vision, or autonomous sensing experience.
Leadership & Delivery
- Translate mission requirements into robust architectures.
- Lead multi-disciplinary engineering teams.
- Excellent documentation and communication skills.
- Hands-on problem solver from lab to field.
- Experience ensuring reliability at deployment scale.
Preferred Qualifications
- B.E./M.Tech/Ph.D. in Electronics, Instrumentation, Mechatronics, or Electrical Engineering.
- Prior experience in defense, aerospace, industrial IoT, or automotive sensor systems.
- Exposure to on-premise data and edge AI workflows.
Why Join Us
At Meridian Data Labs, we build platforms not prototypes. Your work will define how data is sensed, validated, and transformed into insight across defense, energy, and industrial systems, powering next-generation edge intelligence all without the cloud.
