Welcome to Pocket FM, where stories don't just play, they binge.
Started in 2018, we've grown into the world's largest audio series platform with 200M+ listeners globally. Our users spend an average of 120 minutes a day with us.
We turned episodic audio storytelling into mainstream entertainment - across romance, thriller, fantasy, drama, and everything in between.
Now, we're building the future of entertainment, one episode at a time.
Want to help shape it
Role Overview
We're looking for a Senior Writer who can turn long-form fiction into highly addictive, serialized audio content for the US market.
If you love Romantasy, Romance/Drama, or Crime & Thriller, understand how to end every episode on a compelling hook, and thrive in long-form storytelling, this role is for you.
This is strictly a long-form fiction writing role not copywriting, marketing, or promotional content.
Audio adaptation focus (VOA + SFX)
At Pocket FM, stories don't just need to read well - they need to perform in audio.
You'll help maximize story impact through:
- Voice-over adaptation
- Sound design cues
- Audio-first storytelling techniques
You'll collaborate closely with production teams and work within AI-driven creative workflows to deliver immersive listening experiences.
What you'll do
Audio-first storytelling
- Adapt scripts for listening (not reading)
- Refine narration vs. dialogue balance
- Improve clarity for ears, not eyes
- Strengthen pacing, transitions, emotional beats, and stakes
Sound & immersion
- Insert SFX and audio direction cues (ambience, tonal shifts, action punctuations)
- Enhance immersion without overwhelming the narrative
- Use internal AI tools to generate and refine SFX prompts
- Review AI outputs for tone, accuracy, and continuity
Production ownership
- Coordinate with production teams on script readiness
- Manage version control and timely CMS uploads
- Ensure seamless handoffs across production pipelines
Quality control
- Review recorded episodes for script adherence
- Flag pronunciation, pacing, or continuity issues
- Manage revisions to protect listener experience
Post-launch optimization
- Monitor user comments and performance signals
- Identify confusion points or pacing fatigue
- Recommend targeted script or structural adjustments
Issue management
- Respond quickly to production or content issues
- Coordinate fixes across teams
- Protect the long-term health of serialized IP
Nice to have (Audio Experience)
- Experience writing or adapting for audio drama, podcasts, audiobooks, or serialized audio fiction
- Understanding of sound design fundamentals and how SFX, ambience, and music support narrative pacing
What we're looking for
- 5+ years of professional writing or editorial experience in English
- Strong long-form storytelling instincts
- Ability to adapt content for US cultural sensibilities
- Excellent editorial judgment and attention to detail
- Comfort working in high-ownership, fast-moving creative environments
- Interest in genre fiction (Romance, Fantasy, Thriller)
- Web fiction experience is a strong plus
- Prior experience with serialized or long-form fiction preferred
If you understand that great serialized fiction is part craft, part science and that every episode must earn the next click, you'll thrive here.
