Job Description

Role Overview

We're hiring a Senior Workday Solutions & Integrations Specialist to own and deliver integrations across our ecosystem as an integral part of our People Systems team.

This role is for a hands-on integration enthusiast – someone who is passionate about building, improving and scaling integrations, while bringing new ideas and approaches to the table. You will design, build, and own complex, multi-system integrations, ensuring they are scalable, reliable, and aligned with end-to-end business processes.

This is a hybrid role combining deep technical expertise with strong functional understanding. You will operate as the integrations solutions owner, partnering closely with HR, Payroll, Finance, and IT teams to connect systems, data, and workflows—not just move data.

Success in this role requires both strong ownership and curiosity - the ability to proactively identify issues, continuously improve existing integrations and stay open to learning new tools, patterns and approaches to support long-term business outcomes.

What You'll Own

  • End-to-end ownership of the Workday integration landscape, including design, development, testing, deployment, and ongoing optimization
  • Scalable, maintainable integration solutions across internal systems and external vendors (e.g., payroll, benefits, background checks, recruiting, finance)
  • Integration solutions aligned with Workday configuration, business processes, and data flows
  • Long-term reliability, performance, and scalability of integrations

This Role Is Not

  • Limited to basic Workday configuration or low-complexity integrations (e.g., EIB-only experience)
  • Focused solely on ticket-based support or maintenance work
  • A pure backend engineering role without Workday ecosystem expertise

Key Responsibilities

Integration Architecture & Ownership (Primary Focus)

  • Own the end-to-end integration ecosystem across Workday and connected systems
  • Design scalable integration patterns and determine appropriate approaches (configuration vs integration vs API-based solutions)
  • Drive long-term scalability, reusability, and reliability of integration solutions
  • Continuously evaluate and improve existing solutions, bringing forward new ideas and approaches where appropriate

Solution Design & Functional Alignment

  • Proactively identify system, process, and data issues and translate them into scalable solutions
  • Partner with HR and People Systems teams to co-design solutions aligned with business processes
  • Determine when to use Workday configuration vs integration approaches
  • Evaluate downstream impacts of system and process changes

Integrations & Technical Delivery

  • Design and build complex, multi-system integration workflows, including orchestration logic, conditional processing, error handling, and data dependencies
  • Build integrations using Workday tools including Workday Studio (required), EIB, Core Connectors, and RaaS
  • Develop integrations across a complex ecosystem of internal systems and external vendors
  • Design and consume APIs (REST/SOAP) and perform data transformations using XML/XSLT
  • Support and enhance integrations tied to payroll, benefits (including open enrollment), and annual performance/merit cycles
  • Apply best practices for performance, scalability, and reliability

Maintenance, Troubleshooting & Optimization

  • Own and improve existing legacy integrations, including complex or unstable implementations
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement long-term, scalable fixes
  • Refactor and optimize integrations for performance, reliability, and maintainability
  • Ensure high reliability during critical business events (payroll runs, open enrollment, performance cycles)
  • Ensure monitoring, alerting, and operational stability

Testing, Releases & Implementation

  • Lead integration and regression testing across Workday tenants
  • Ensure end-to-end validation within business processes
  • Support Workday bi-annual releases and assess system impacts
  • Drive solutions through production implementation and stabilization

Reporting Collaboration & Data Support

  • Partner with stakeholders to support reporting needs tied to integrations and more complex business needs
  • Use Workday reporting and BIRT to validate and troubleshoot data outputs
  • Ensure data accuracy and consistency across systems

Collaboration, Documentation & Continuous Improvement

  • Collaborate across cross-functional teams and internally with People Systems
  • Create and maintain technical specifications and integration documentation
  • Ensure alignment with audit, compliance, and internal standards (e.g., SOX)
  • Identify opportunities to improve integrations, processes, and system usage

Minimum Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience with Workday integrations in enterprise environments
  • Strong hands-on experience building complex integrations using Workday Studio, along with EIB, Core Connectors, and RaaS
  • Proven experience owning end-to-end integration solutions from design through implementation
  • Experience designing and consuming APIs (REST/SOAP) and performing data transformations using XML/XSLT
  • Working experience with Workday reporting and BIRT
  • Solid understanding of Workday Core HCM, business processes, and data structures as well as support of annual events such as performance management cycle and open enrollment for benefits
  • Proven ability to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Workday Extend
  • Experience across Workday implementation, AMS, or enhancement environments
  • Experience integrating Workday with enterprise and third-party vendor systems
  • Experience with Matrix and Composite reporting
  • Exposure to broader HR technology ecosystems
  • Consulting or shared services background

We value diverse experiences and encourage candidates who meet most, but not all, of the requirements to apply.

What Strong Candidates Demonstrate

  • Ownership of end-to-end integration solutions across multiple systems
  • Ability to design scalable, reusable integration architectures
  • Experience working in complex vendor + internal system ecosystems
  • A balance of hands-on development and architectural decision-making
  • Reliability in supporting high-impact, time-sensitive processes and projects (i.e., payroll, open enrollment, performance cycles)
  • A mindset of continuous improvement, curiosity and willingness to learn and adopt new approaches

Skills For Success

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to proactively identify issues and drive solutions
  • Collaborative mindset across technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Clear communication and strong documentation practices
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Focus on data integrity, system reliability, and continuous improvement
