Senior WordPress (PHP) & React Native Developer Marine Insight

Role: Full-time, remote. 5+ years of professional development. Hands-on and independent.

Salary: Starting at 40,000+ /month depending on experience

Probation: 2 months.

1. WordPress (main site + subdomains)

• Build and maintain custom themes, plugins, REST endpoints and hooks. Prefer clean custom code over plugin bloat.
• Run the membership/ebook store (Easy Digital Downloads, payments, access control).
• Manage staging → production deployments with backups and rollback.
• Fix plugin/theme conflicts, PHP and JS errors, and database issues.

2. Performance & Core Web Vitals

• Improve LCP, INP and CLS, especially on mobile.
• Optimise caching, CDN, images (WebP/AVIF), scripts and the database.
• Do this without breaking ads (Google Ad Manager), analytics or SEO.

3. Webmaster & Security

• Monitor uptime, logs, 404s, crawl and indexing issues.
• Manage DNS, SSL, Cloudflare (WAF, rate limiting, bot rules), redirects and migrations.
• Handle malware, XSS/SQLi/CSRF prevention, user permissions and backups.

4. Mobile apps (React Native, iOS & Android)

• Maintain and extend the existing apps and ship new features.
• Handle auth, push notifications, deep links and in-app content.
• Integrate with WordPress REST and our Node.js/MongoDB mobile API.
• Fix crashes and keep up with iOS/Android and library upgrades.

5. Releases

• Create AAB/iOS builds, handle signing and certificates, and manage TestFlight and Play testing.
• Manage App Store Connect and Play Console submissions and review issues.

6. Integrations & Tracking

• GA4 (cross-domain across our subdomains), GTM, Search Console, Meta Pixel and consent management.
• Email (Kit.com, FluentCRM), webhooks and automation (n8n).
• Secure APIs using JWT/OAuth and tokens.

• 5+ years of development; strong custom WordPress (PHP, MySQL, JS, WP-CLI, REST API).
• Production React Native on both iOS and Android, including store releases.
• Basic working experience with Node.js and MongoDB for mobile APIs.
• Linux, SSH, Git, Nginx/Apache, Cloudflare, and Redis/object caching.
• A root-cause approach: investigate → test on staging → backup → deploy → monitor.
• AI-assisted coding: you use AI coding tools efficiently, but you review every change yourself. Nothing goes live without a human check for security holes and broken functionality.
• Not suitable: candidates who only install themes and plugins, or who ship AI-generated code unreviewed.

• High-traffic publishing or news sites; EDD/WooCommerce; membership sites.
• Large WordPress databases, Google Ad Manager, Firebase, multi-site setups.

Uptime, Core Web Vitals, app crash-free rate, release success, security, code quality, and clear documentation.
