Job Description

Role Summary

The Wireless QA Expert ensures reliable, resilient, and interoperable connectivity across devices, firmware, applications, cloud services, and customer network environments. The role applies system-level and AI-driven approaches to proactively prevent connectivity failures, improve recovery, and enhance customer experience across home, pro, and enterprise ecosystems.

Key Responsibilities

Define and drive end-to-end connectivity resiliency strategy, including NFRs, recovery paths, and failure handling.

Architect a typical end user environment, data-aware test lab with automated log tagging, telemetry, and issue correlation.

Identify and mitigate ecosystem breakage points through system-level testing, fault injection, and interoperability validation.

Leverage AI-assisted observability, telemetry, and automation to proactively detect issues and reduce customer impact.

Use ML models to detect anomalies, predict failures, identify coverage gaps, and classify connectivity issues.

Act as a cross-functional technical authority, influencing FW, app, cloud, DevOps, and QA teams to embed resilience early in the SDLC.

Evaluate performance metrics like connect time, job latency, throughput, drop rates, roaming, and RF resilience.

Key Qualifications, Skills & AI Expertise

Strong expertise in networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, IPv4/IPv6, DNS, DHCP, routing, and network security concepts.

Deep hands-on experience with wireless technologies: IEEE 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/ax/be (Wi-Fi 4/5/6/6E/7), WPA2/WPA3, 802.1X, PMF, roaming (802.11k/v/r), OFDMA, MIMO/MU-MIMO, and multi-AP environments.

Experience validating wireless interoperability across diverse access points, controllers, mesh networks, and complex enterprise topologies.

Strong understanding of wireless performance, reliability, and resiliency factors including congestion, interference, roaming failures, authentication failures, and recovery scenarios.

System-level understanding across firmware, applications, cloud platforms, and devices.

Experience using telemetry, analytics, and AI-assisted insights for reliability and quality improvement.

Familiarity with anomaly detection, trend analysis, predictive failure identification, and agentic AI frameworks.

Hands-on experience with fault injection, observability platforms, automation, protocol analysis, and data-driven quality.

Strong collaboration and influence skills across cross-functional engineering teams.

Success Metrics

Reduction in wireless and connectivity-related customer incidents and field escapes.

Improved wireless stability, roaming success rate, and resiliency across real-world network scenarios.

Increased observability and predictive coverage for connectivity failures.

Positive impact on customer experience metrics such as NPS, reliability, and connectivity ratings.

Cross-Org Skills

  • Effective Communication
  • Results Orientation
  • Learning Agility
  • Digital Fluency
  • Customer Centricity

Impact & Scope

  • Impacts function and leads and/or provides expertise to functional project teams and may participate in cross-functional initiatives.

Complexity

  • Works on complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of multiple factors.
