Job Description
- Role: Senior Web Research Specialist (Remote)
- Location: Remote (Work from Anywhere)
Role Overview:
We are hiring for one of our clients, seeking a Web Research Specialist- US only to work on a full-time basis. The role focuses on building an evaluation benchmark for frontier AI browsing agents. You will design research problems that a state‑of‑the‑art AI cannot solve, even with full web access and multiple attempts, and provide a complete, auditable evidence trail for each problem.
Key Responsibilities:
• Design natural‑language research questions that start from a verifiable fact and are deliberately difficult for advanced AI to locate.
• Construct answer clues that are short, stable, and objectively verifiable, covering multiple fact types such as dates, people, places, organisations, works, events, records, and quantities.
• Produce validation records that document the searches performed, the results returned, and the reasoning behind each step.
• Locate primary records by navigating government, institutional, and archival databases, registries, and PDF documents, citing exact pages, tables, and sections.
• Maintain structured documentation of the evidence trail, ensuring precision and reproducibility for future benchmark evaluation.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
• Master's degree or more than three years of professional experience in open‑web research, including primary source retrieval from government or institutional archives.
• Demonstrated ability to conduct precise sourcing, citing exact locations within documents rather than generic homepages.
• Native or near‑native proficiency in written English with a high tolerance for structured documentation.
• Experience in LLM evaluation, red‑team testing, or benchmark construction, preferably in domains such as reference librarianship, investigative journalism, OSINT, patent or legal‑discovery search, genealogy, or competitive puzzle design.
• Strong investigative mindset, capable of working from unfamiliar subjects and building a complete, auditable evidence trail for each research problem.
More About the Opportunity:
This role offers a unique opportunity to work with a global leader in the artificial intelligence industry, contributing to the creation of rigorous evaluation benchmarks for frontier AI browsing agents. The work directly supports the development of AI systems that can handle complex, real‑world information‑seeking tasks.
Equal Opportunity Employer:
We hire based on skills and expertise. All qualified candidates are welcome regardless of background, experience, or prior employment history. Applications are reviewed solely on demonstrated technical ability and qualifications.
