Job Summary:

Bechtel is seeking a Senior Process Engineer (Chemical Engineer) with experience in the water sector to join the Water Team at Bechtel. The position will be based at one of the Bechtel offices in India.

The Senior Process Engineer will develop, review and approve design criteria, PFDs, P&IDs, ion balances, heat and mass balances and process calculations. The Senior Process Engineer will interact and participate in regular meetings with other Bechtel offices and Customers.

Major Responsibilities:

  • . Supervise other engineers in the discipline, including approval of timesheets, annual performance review.
    . Assume a technical leadership role over other engineers or project groups to complete specific tasks.
    . Review and check the work of subordinate engineers.
    . Review and approve design criteria, PFDs, P&IDs, line listings, mechanical equipment listings, mass balances, hydraulic calculations, and other process calculations for water systems.
    . Lead the HAZOP workshops.
    . Participate in the development of 3D models and participate in the review of the 3D model with the Customer.
    . Participate in engineering meetings with other disciplines.
    . Report weekly progress to project control and prepare weekly and monthly progress reports.
    . Perform work using Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAP).
    . Coordinate engineering efforts in assigned areas among specialty and other engineering groups or disciplines, with the customer, suppliers, and contractors, and among other groups.
    . Prepare conceptual studies, designs, reports or proposals.
    . Prepare cost estimates, quantity calculations, and staffing requirements for proposals, forecasts, and change orders.
    . Support the creation of a work environment that fosters transparency, trust, communication, teamwork, empowerment, innovation, and motivation.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • A recognised degree in Chemical Engineering from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum 12 years of experience
  • English level: Fluent.

The Senior Process Engineer must have knowledge and/or experience in:

  • Water and Wastewater Treatment Technologies and Equipment, Desalination, Water Chemistry.
  • Practical work experience in process engineering design.
  • Site experience will be advantageous.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • . Senior process engineers will be able to develop design criteria, PFDs, P&IDs, mass balances, process calculations, and functional descriptions.
    . They should be able to produce a well-structured report in which a number of options are logically evaluated and a recommendation is presented.
    . In-depth knowledge of process engineering techniques, engineered system design, and engineering and design calculations.
    . Understand the application of Bechtel Engineering Department procedures and relevant design guides. Extensive knowledge of the application of engineering to plant constructability, applied to construction methods and materials.
    . Knowledge of current computer applications for engineering and design.
    . Understanding of engineering planning and control methods, including computer methods.
    . Knowledge of the roles that other departments play in projects, including basic construction practices and economics.
    . Knowledge of industry or regulatory codes and standards and design criteria relevant to the engineering discipline in question.
    . Oral and written communication skills.
