Job Description

In this role, you'll make an impact in the following ways:

  • Serve as the APAC lead for Markets Controls, engaging senior stakeholders across regional and global forums.
  • Lead the implementation of end-to-end non-financial risk and control frameworks across APAC Markets.
  • Drive strong control ownership, accountability, and effectiveness across the Front Office, Operations, and partner functions.
  • Assess emerging risks associated with product expansion and ensure controls are embedded into business growth and operating model changes, particularly across FIEQ and Global Collateral initiatives.
  • Partner with global and regional teams to align APAC activities with enterprise control frameworks and governance standards.
  • Lead regulatory engagement and compliance outcomes across key APAC regulators, including MAS, HKMA, and FSS, by anticipating change and embedding requirements into business processes ahead of implementation deadlines.
  • Operate with a high degree of independence while partnering with the Business, Middle Office, Operations, and key control functions including Legal, Compliance, Finance, and Risk to design, enhance, and oversee a consistent and evolving control framework.
  • Lead remediation programs arising from audit findings, regulatory requests and examinations, operational risk events, consent order commitments, and other strategic initiatives, while managing priorities across multiple stakeholders and deadlines.
  • Identify, investigate, and escalate material risk and control issues, and drive timely, effective remediation.
  • Review documentation and control evidence to assess the effectiveness and efficiency of business procedures and adherence to established policies and standards.
  • Evaluate control and policy adherence, and recommend enhancements to strengthen effectiveness, consistency, and operational resilience.
  • Anticipate and assess technology and emerging risk trends that may impact the business, and design proactive controls to mitigate them before they materialize.
  • Establish clear reporting and escalation practices for senior management and governance forums, aligned with local regulatory expectations.

To be successful in this role, we're seeking the following:

  • Bachelor's degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • 13-18 years of relevant experience in financial services, including significant Markets experience with strong subject-matter expertise across:
  • FIEQ (Fixed Income, Equities, and Execution Services), including the trading lifecycle and client execution environment
  • Global Collateral, including margining, collateral optimization, liquidity, and exposure management
  • Strong experience in risk and control disciplines, such as First Line Controls, Operational Risk, Control Assurance, or Regulatory Change, combined with deep knowledge of Markets products and business activities.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory expectations governing sales and trading activities across APAC, including accountability regimes and surveillance controls designed to meet local market abuse requirements (e.g., MAS, SFA, SFO, and FSS rules).
  • Demonstrated accountability for team outcomes, with a strong track record of delivering high-quality results against commitments.
  • A forward-looking approach to AI adoption and data-driven decision-making to enhance monitoring, surveillance, and reporting capabilities.
  • Proven ability to lead through influence across countries and stakeholder groups, driving clear decisions, ownership, and sustainable execution.
  • Experience engaging with internal and external examiners to align on scope, risk themes, and remediation priorities for identified issues.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to assess processes and identify opportunities to enhance controls, efficiency, and operational effectiveness.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the credibility to engage effectively across all levels of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to learn quickly, manage multiple priorities, and adapt effectively in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • Proven ability to build strong relationships across functions, regions, and distributed teams.
