Position Overview
The Senior Test Engineer is responsible for working with the Solution and Software teams to manage the testing process of all assigned projects. The Senior Test Engineer may draft all required SDLC and validation documents and facilitate the review and approval of all documents. The Senior Test Engineer will be help with coordinating and managing the testing process including the creation of test scripts, supporting user acceptance testing and executing OQ test scripts. The Senior Test Engineer functions as a subject matter expert on technical testing approaches utilized by Test Engineers. The Senior Test Engineer in UP GTD may operate as a People Leader and have managerial responsibilities.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Note: Other duties may be assigned.
- Executes tests for all technology platforms.
- Leads testing efforts on assigned project ( with minimal guidance/direction).
- Mentor junior staff members and oversee the quality of deliverables.
- Understands the functional business processes across the entire organization.
- Works closely with Global Technical Delivery staff to formulate the high-level testing solution and is responsible for ensuring that the testing strategy includes complete coverage of requirements and business processe
- Creates and executes test cases, manages bugs and reports testing status to project teams.
- Provides feedback and input to development on suggested unit testing approaches and techniques.
- Reviews test cases and test scripts for quality and coverage.
- Drafts all required SDLC and validation documents if required.
- Facilitates the review and approval of all SDLC and validation documents, if required.
- Follows defined validation process and produces validated documents for all initiatives.
- Supports User Acceptance Testing when appropriate.
- Reviews UAT testing results and ensures quality and adherence to SDLC processes.
- Contributes to the authoring and review of departmental procedures, documentation of testing processes, and work instructions, as necessary.
- Self-manages testing workload for testing multiple systems in various phases of development to meet deadlines.
- Documents traceability between testing and system requirements documentation.
- Manages various aspects of in-house testing documentation.
- Participates in testing process improvement activities as needed.
- Demonstrates total ownership, accountability, and commitment to the testing deliverables.
- Responsible for review of overall timelines specific to testing tasks for projects assigned and supporting other testing resources.
- Provides support to GTD staff on other internal initiatives as assigned.
- Drafts, and reviews training materials for the testing team.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, information systems, business, or computer science, or equivalent years of experience.
Experience
- 3-5 years mix of manual and automated end-to-end testing of software products, including Web applications testing.
Competencies & Personal Attributes
- Experience working with multiple software validation lifecycles and with accepted software testing methodologies.
- Must have a thorough understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle, and experience with the testing process throughout all SDLC phases.
- Must have excellent analytical skills with a proven ability to comprehend business requirements.
- Demonstrate ability to meet deadlines and multi-task in a fast-paced work environment.
- Demonstrate extreme attention to detail and organization in all aspects of work.
- Must have excellent written communication skills, including the ability to effectively document procedures, processes, and results.
- Proven ability to work in a team-oriented environment, providing backup support to team members, and establishing/maintaining effective work relationships with co-workers within and across functional areas.
- Must have very strong skills with Microsoft Office applications.
- Must be comfortable working with business users and technical teams.
- Must have demonstrated experience interfacing, influencing, and negotiating with business users and technical teams.
- Familiarity with SQL Queries is a plus.
- Familiarity with GCP and 21 CFR Part 11 is a plus.
- Familiarity with defect tracking software is a plus.
